Texting while driving
that's just some lame dramatization. the girl in that video is barely even holding the steering wheel and doesn't even look at the road for 13+ seconds, sorry but noone just doesn't look up even for a glance in 13+ seconds of driving in the real world. if you do then you deserve to have a wreck.
Mr. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City. In November 2000, Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32 foot Winnebago motor home. On his first trip home, having joined the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly, the Winnie left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him in the handbook that he could not actually do this.
He was awarded $1,750,000 plus a new Winnebago. (Winnebago actually changed their handbooks on the back of this court case, just in case there are any other complete morons buying their vehicles.)
What about if she put it in cruise control?

i remember hearing about that guy awhile back. yeah that guy deserved to wreck haha Winnebago's not that ahead of the game.

It's not Fords or Winnebago's fault that people are Darwin's next victim.
hear about the lady who sued mcdonalds because she spilled her hot coffee on herself while driving? she said that the coffee cup didnt state it was hot and she had to go to the doctor for burns. made over $1m easy.
That's like saying redlights don't say STOP and GO. They just have different colors on there.
Made her lawyers some cash but her piece of the pie was only like $17K or even less than that, if I remember right.
psychological tests prove that its not just looking at the road that creates the endangerment of the driver, its the fact they are concentrating on what they are saying in the text and trying to pay attention to the road at the same time and if something were to happen reactions are waaay slower. neural transmitters are not fast enough to switch from texting to reacting fast enough in most people...not saying all people...but most lol

The actually settlement between McDonald's and Stella Liebeck (sp?)
will never be known. It is estimated to be less than 600,000 dollars. Some legal minds guess Stella might have received 100,000 of that total with lawyers collecting the remainder.
The coffee she spilled on herself was proven to be brewed to 185 degrees. The coffee institute claims coffee should be brewed between 190 and 210 degrees for optimum taste.

Not an official source but close enough.
The lawyers probably threw a gag order on the settlement amount.

Hey guys,
I'm doing a Rogerian essay on texting while driving. I'm looking for pros/cons of it. Cons are easy: accidents, raised insurance, tickets, etc. But I'm looking for pros. Scientific studies a plus since I need to claim my sources. Anyone recall reading an article recently? Google is turning up blogs and opinions.

Texting and reading compared to driving under the influence of alcohol....
