How many here also have Mustangs??
Fx4life, your payment is going to be over 400 unless you put a decent down payment down and have really good credit. I pay a little over 400 ea. on both of mine,(F150 and Fusion) both of which I financed for right around 20,000.
21k for an '07 GT is a bit high if you ask me. Don't forget there is nothing special about the CS other than the fact it says CS and has that paint job. Mustangs don't really hold there value that well, it's just some stealerships thank they can charge you an arm and a leg for them. GT' are a dime a dozen, but great cars. I loved my '04 and wish I had never traded it for the truck. Look around, you can get an nice '05-'07 with under 30K miles for much cheaper than that CS. It's all about not jumping on the first thing you see. Also check with your insurance company, youd be suprised at the rates they charge for a GT. When I first got mine (27 and a perfect driving record) some ins. companies wanted as much as 6K for a 6 month premium. Finally ended up with a company that only wanted $1046 a year.
By the way make sure you get a standard...they are way to much fun. Good luck and enjoy it, be warned...the mod bug will hit you hard and heavy once you get it.

I'm 25, and my Viper GTS is not even that...
Hell i think between my 04 F-150 with mods covered, viper gts, 03 tahoe, 01 corolla and not to mention the "storage" insurance on my 3 mustangs I'm at 2k a year.
Really nothing is wrong with it. It seemed to run pretty good the few times Ive driven it. Its just loud and obnoxious and has a few squeaks and rattles that are to be expected from a 17 year old car, especially one thats been stiffened up (subframe connectors, boxed control arms, etc). No major issues.
Its got a brand new shortblock and alot of performance parts. Im just bored with it and sick of putting money into it. Id really rather just pay off some bills instead of buying car parts all the time.
Ive put probably $7k into it since last fall when the original motor came out.

I waited for about 6 months before buying alot of the parts I needed after buying the motor because I lost interest then but for some reason gained interest again and was getting told to move the car from where it was stored so I had it put back together and its up and running but now its just sitting in my friends garage. Ive let him drive it alot more than Ive driven since he was the one that put it together.
What started out as an issue with the valves hitting the pistons due to warped heads from blown headgaskets ended up with getting a new 347 shortblock and a ton of other stuff.
Really if I sell it Im going to put the money towards bills, the majority of which are the result of owning the Mustang. I dont need another toy.
I love my truck and my atv is alot more fun than the Mustang ever was.

I can't believe the new body's been out for five years already, and I've never driven one of them! I hear that they are a completely different experience from the SN95/New-Edge platform.... much more rigid, but also heavier. The Mustang was never the best handling machine out of the box, but from what I've read, the 05+ is better than the prior iterations. The '05 was the first normal (read that as "affordable to the masses") car anyone produced recently that I've gotten excited about. I share the consensus: Get a manual. Much more fun!
That said, I don't think I'd give up my '95 for one. I've put way to much time and effort into this one to get it "just the way I like it," although I keep hearing a voice whispering "Vortech...... Vortech....."

Insurance is another worry, I don't want it too be through the roof! I talked to a local dealer about a 2010 today and they basically blew me off. I'm in DFW now so on Friday I'm going to putz around and check dealers around here and check out some used ones. I'm in no real hurry to be honest, but seeing all you guys pics makes me want one bad
I saw a GT350 today at a local bank and it was beautiful!

The V6 Mustangs of today have SO much more in the aftermarket than the 4 bangers and straight 6's of yesteryear. And you can afford the insurance! Your insurance agent doesn't have to know that you have a Squire Turbo where your muffler used to reside.
This was my first car and I still have it. It's been a project for a LONG time. It's an '84 GT...originally a 5.0 but now a 347 stroker. The only things left that is original '84 are the body panels:

My girl and I bought this when she was commuting a lot for school. With the addition of a Screamin' Demon coil this little V6/5-speed pulls down 28-29 mpg on the highway. The Cobra wheels and GT hood make it not-so-embarrassing around town. We added some pipes and that KILLED our mileage. So I put the stock muffler back on and had a muffler shop make a pretty tailpipe for her.

And when my girlfriend and I first met, she was driving a '66 6-banger automatic. It was slow as molasses but a HOOT to drive.

IMO, your best bet is to find one that's 2-3 years old and un-modified. Second-best is to find one 2-3 years old that's been lightly modded (gears and exhaust maybe) that you can buy form a private owner who you can "evaluate." Obviously you don't want one that's been beaten on by an 18-year-old. Get on www.corral.net and look around a bit. There's a section specifically for the new style, and probably info on what to watch out for.

Thanks -- although, that's Grabber Orange, buddy! This Minnesota boy doesn't know anything about Tennessee, although Lane Kiffin did play high school ball in the Twin Cities......
