President said what??
I agree with someone else's post here.
The larger Muslim organization has mostly themselves to blame for the prejudice they receive.
You don't hear much of an outcry by the Muslim population against the extremists.
Their silence is translated as approval.
That would be like the KKK rising up and creating all hell on the world, then not hearing anything from the Vatican condemning them and their practices.

Muslims do and have vehemently spoken out against terrorism, but for some reason, people don't listen, or choose to have selecting hearing.
I'm not really sure why this is except maybe it helps justify their erroneous beliefs.
It's easier to blame someone when you have a face to hate, and all Muslims make this rather convenient, don't they?
Here is a list of at least 50 Muslim groups who have openly spoken out against terrorism, condemning their acts of violence.

Good luck after you graduate,,don't EVER lose sight and remember CAPITALISM is not a bad word, although Obama and his minions want you to believe it is. Sir, I hope you make millions and live a happy and healthy life. Those that are still hitting the Obama pipe and drinking the "kool aid" are the ones that think gov't owes them and are to lazy to do anything or think for themselves.
No Frank, that is all YOU have! Some of us have the ability to reason and form opinions though a compilation of facts from various sources regardless of their political/religious perspective.
May God protect you and your lack of understanding for your fellow man.
Frank, I take nothing you say in a mean or harsh way. I have always been taught to consider the source.
It's your way or the highway Frank and I've found the highway.

Maybe I should rephrase my last statement.
"That would be like the KKK rising up and creating all hell on the world, while the US Government sat by without trying to do anything about it. Allowing them to train, fund, and plan their world wide attacks without repercussion from the US Government, Canadian Government, Mexican Government, etc.

And so much animosity and insults. Saying that, "some of us have the ability to reason" is another straw man (not to mention an insult) that postulates you have some form of esoteric knowledge.

Thank you for the informative read. From what I have gathered from reading about religion, I am finding that whatever religion you believe in, all other religions are sinful or work of the devil or what have you. I was baptized Catholic when I was young, but my parents quit going to church when they got a divorce. Of course the Catholic church does not accept divorce, so my mother moved back to NY with me and my father stayed in Miami. My father was very abusive towards my mom mostly and me once...that's all it took for my Mom to pack up and leave town. We never attended church together again. I went every so often when I was in college, but lost interest as I grew older. I guess I am considered a non-practicing Catholic since I was baptized quite some time ago. I really don't have much interest in joining any religion, but I enjoy reading about them and their ideology.

Not really....i just believe followers of other religions are mislead and all i can do is spread the word. It's free will, the rest is up to whatever they want to believe. Nothing is forced on anybody. When your truely saved you see the world differently. I'm sorry to hear about that stuff in your past. I'm sure you still sttruggle with some emotions from all that, maybe anger, idk, but i kno God can help you get thru anything. I myself have divorced parents, family isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, and another thing i deal with daily is my severe brain injury. This happened in a car wreck about 4 years ago. I have still have some things that aren't the same as before, but i get thru them and i'm better for it imho.(I was in a Coma for 5 weeks, had to relearn EVERYTHING! basically had my jaws reconstructed and have titanium wires in them, Titanium rod in my leg, crushed my shoulder, broke ribs, spleen, lungs, etc. Doctors said i was gonna die, then be a vegetable, then......you get my drift. Different trials, but i feel like a stronger person with more faith b/c of what i've been thru. If you have any questions or anything i'll help anyway i can. Just want to make sure you kno that being baptized has nothing to do with your salvation. Just God asks all believers to be baptized to show that they are a new being in Christ, but it's not neccessarily any kind of a requirement to get to heaven.

Maybe you are correct. The question should be why don't we hear these people on the major news networks?
Maybe I should rephrase my last statement.

In your example, the government would know where the KKK offices, meeting rooms and clubhouses are located (or whatever the heck they go to)
I don't know much about them other than the episodes of Oprah I've seen where they bring their kids on there in there cute little KKK uniforms.
Point I'm making, well, I'm more asking is, wouldn't the government know who is a KKK member already and where they are located?
We don't have any KKK up here in Canada but our prisons do have a large % of Aryan Brotherhood and skinhead types who think they are morally superior because they are white. Same garbage, just a different name for it. All stems from hate.
It's much easier to fight an enemy when you know who he is and where to find them.
As far as trying to put a face on Al-Qaeda, how do you put a face on them?
This is the problem isn't it? If it were up to me, I'd love nothing more than to round up every last one of the Al-Qaeda and string em up by the tallest branch. The question is How to find them?
I have been to the Middle East more than a dozen times, I've made friends there, I've been invited into their homes and had dinner at their table, played with their kids, smoked shisha pipe in the late hours of the evening while enjoying nice conversation and playing backgammon.
These people aren’t any different than us, they want the same things.
To live a peaceful life, raise their children, send them to school and give them an education, have fun on the week-ends, go dancing, or whatever it is that people do when they unwind.
They want to work, earn an income, provide for their families and plan their retirements and vacations, just like us.
I realize my screen name is Arabic, but I got it over there, I'm Canadian, no Arab or Muslim in me, and agnostic by choice; I've got no reason to lie or choose sides because of a secret agenda, I'm just relating my experiences as a human being who has spent some time with Muslims. I have travelled extensively and some of the Muslims I have met have been the warmest, friendliest, & kindest people I have ever met.
There are some who have posted in this thread that have such an incredibly closed mind that they won't believe one word I am saying.
All they know is how to paste the one part of the Qur'an which is taken out of context, and use that as their rebuttal.
"Kill the infidels and slay them wherever you find them"
They wave it like a victory flag saying "See, I told you, their book proves they are a murderous bunch of wretches"
They don't stop and listen to how that verse was meant, when it was written, and for what reason it was meant to be obeyed.
Think about this just for a second...
Suppose that verse was meant to be taken literally, and in order to be a good faithful Muslim, you were to obey those words, the slaughtering of infidels would be worse than the storming of Normandy.
The Muslim population comprises about 23% of the world's population -1.57 Billion people. Almost 1 in 4 people on earth are Muslim and out of the entire Muslim population, 20% are comprised of Arabs.
That's a lot of people, who, if they were 'slaughtering non-believers' at every opportunity, I wouldn’t want to leave the house. There would be a million murders committed each day. I would've been dead the first time I went over there.
Instead, you've got a radical group of extreme, uneducated, morally righteous arseholes interpreting the Qur'an the way they see fit, and this small group causes the most damage and is giving the main group an incredibly bad name.
I'm not saying you are closed minded, but there are an awful lot of folks here who refuse to even consider their beliefs 'might' be wrong.
To those people I say you have a choice, you can continue to go through life, hating and being an ignoramus, or you can at least consider the possibility that by keeping an open mind, you might learn something new.
I was never keen on being a 'know-it-all' because once you know everything, there's never anything else you could ever learn, and life is too awesome of an experience to deny yourself that experience... learning.
Peace

You sound like someone I should/would sit down with and share a pitcher with.
Well said. Only the Muslim community has the power to out their own. Sadly, as I'm sure you are aware, they are murdering men, women, and children all over the globe.

Frank, Muslims are murdering everyone, including other Muslims! (Shi'a against Sunni). They don't even get along with themselves, Just as Catholic Christians in Northern Ireland were murdering Protestant Christians and vice versa. And, don't our Protestant religions have a subtle distrust of the Catholics here? (Overt in the case of the KKK). What does that mean? Not much really.
The majority of all these people, I'm sure, just wanted to live in peace.
Why can't you get it that these acts of terror are caused by a small, militant minority? These "terrorists" are not following a religion, they're just using it as an excuse. This is what most all terrorists do. They cloak themselves in a "holy" mantle, then embark on whatever act that suits their distorted view of the world.
Haven't you heard terrorists say, "God told me to do it."?
No, these are not people who are inspired by true religion. They are simply sociopaths. Nothing more. Religion has nothing to do with it.
