My town usually has shelter's open in our local churches and community center's so if one become's available i'll let you know! For some reason our town is a major place for evacuees to come too! All of our gas station's are currently out of gas and the rv parks and motel's are all packed!

And yall I think I am going to be okay now. The path has shifted, plus with the weakening of the storm I will be fine. I am really glad for the people on this forum, yall have some kind hearts.

Thanks,
Ryan

Low, me and my family will be praying for you guys. I just listened to your Governor's press conference and he's really got things under control. Please pay attention to him.

I have a feeling this storm will gain in intensity before it makes landfall. Right now its a 3, but with it over 90 degree waters still, more then likely it will grow upwards to a 4 again possably a Cat 5 before all said and done.

I'd get out of town if your near this storm, some say this is the Mother of all storms for the centry. Nothing to try to ride out at all

Gustav hasn't strengthened at all today, yet. Doesn't look like it's going to be as powerful as predicted.

Right now it's a cat 3, 115 mph winds.

From NHC:

Category Three Hurricane:
Winds 111-130 mph (96-113 kt or 178-209 km/hr). Storm surge generally 9-12 ft above normal. Some structural damage to small residences and utility buildings with a minor amount of curtainwall failures. Damage to shrubbery and trees with foliage blown off trees and large trees blown down. Mobile homes and poorly constructed signs are destroyed. Low-lying escape routes are cut by rising water 3-5 hours before arrival of the center of the hurricane. Flooding near the coast destroys smaller structures with larger structures damaged by battering from floating debris. Terrain continuously lower than 5 ft above mean sea level may be flooded inland 8 miles (13 km) or more. Evacuation of low-lying residences with several blocks of the shoreline may be required. Hurricanes Jeanne and Ivan of 2004 were Category Three hurricanes when they made landfall in Florida and in Alabama, respectively.
