10 Things I don't like about Obama (in no particular order):

1) He did not support the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act

2) Obama was very publicly against the surge. His policy would have resulted in the USA leaving Iraq as the loser.

3) Unconditional talks with Iran would be a diplomatic disaster which even scared the Europeans.

4) I question his judgment after 20 years in his racist church donating money to his cornball minister.

5) He's in favor of hate crimes legislation, which increases penalties based on the racial or religious status of the victim. I am stongly in support of being tough on crime, but the penalties have to be applied equally no matter the status of the victim.

6) He has proposed a "civilian national security force just as powerful as the military." What the hell is that supposed to be?

7) McCain's position on global warming is bad. Obama's is worse.

8) He wants to apply a windfall profits tax on the oil companies, which is ridiculous. Windfall profit taxes on oil would make US companies even less competitive against foreign companies. How does that help us break free from foreign oil?

9) He wants to increase the capital gains tax. Since Bush lowered the capital gains tax, the amount of capital gains revenue collected has skyrocketed.

10) He has a typical, liberal "spend more, soak the rich" tax and spend policy. I can go into details, but I'm time constrained (and I'm already on number 10).

Finally, I have no interest in Democrats controlling the House, Senate, and the Presidency. It was bad enough when the Republicans had all three. Ideally, I'd like to see the Dems have the House and the Republicans have the Senate and the Presidency.

What ever became of the birth certificate issue, I've not heard any more about it. I know the source was Isrealy. Did the American Media ever mention it anywhere? Was there any substance to the accusation at all?

I kinda doubt anyone in the top 5% and paying the 80% load is banging away on a truck forum about it.

Why do you carry their water?
(not trying to put you down, I'd really like to know why this is so important to you)
First, whether you're the top 5%, it is still wrong to soak the rich.

Second, the top 5% isn't particularly high. In 2006, the top 5% earned $153,542. There are multiple posters here in the top 5%.

Unless Obama mama gets elected. Jesus your contradicting your self on that one. He is going to raise taxes so high, every rich man left that has his money in America, will send it over seas. Do you realize that the richest one percent of America ALREADY pay 3/4 of the taxes collected by the federal government? At what point is being rich in America not going to be worth it?

5% was chris' number not mine.
The proposed Obama 6.2 payroll tax kicks in at $250,000.
I don't know what percentage is above 250k but, I assume it's less than 5%.

As far as soaking the rich,...that's where the money is.
When our govt had a military draft it soaked the young, old people didn't draft notifications.

I know at least one guy that is.

As far as soaking the rich....they are already being soaked. Eventually they'll get pissed and move somewhere else more tax friendly. Why do you think so many corporations move offshore? The US tax system is complete crap and will get worse under Obama.

Yup, Obama seems to think he is Ribbinhood. I really find it ridiculous that so many of you are in favor of taxing the "rich" simply because it is not your money. I think a flat tax is what America needs, we all enjoy the same benefits of this country and therefore we should all contribute equally

Yes. It is a great country. Too bad not all of us feel that way...

It has historically been a great country to get and stay rich in but that's not necessarly set in stone. If the political climate makes it more difficult to get and stay rich here, people may just look for a better alternative. Why wouldn't they? You don't hear too many complaints from the rich about the enormous tax burden they now shoulder. They just might complain if that burden increases by a large percentage in a short amount of time.

How does the saying go? Don't bite the hand that feeds you? The rich are feeding this country.

The 10 percent of households with the highest incomes account for nearly a quarter of all spending, according to data compiled by research firm Moody's Economy.com from a 2006 federal survey.

"That does suggest those folks are important for the spending outlook, and the overall economic outlook," said Scott Hoyt, Moody's director of consumer economics.
If the rich stay but don't spend as much this country is hurting. If they leave and take their taxable income, we're screwed.

Just look at the number of wealthy Brits that have come to the colony in order to reduce their taxes. A huge number of the entertainment industry.
