I agree. If you are certified to carry concealed, why not openly? Sure the classes would need to address how to maintain your weapon, if someone tried to ****** it, and it would require you wearing the proper holster such as a Serpa 2 or 3.

Good ole Texas, its perfectly legal to carry a loaded firearm in your vehicle for anyone.
I also would like open carry, it seems pretty dumb that its considered safe to carry where no one knows you have it, but not safe if someone does know your packing.

I live in TN, and we can carry open here. Allthough everyone that teaches the class strongly advises aginst open carry.

Simply because you 'LOOSE" your surprise attack. They see you are carrying so they put a bullet in your butt first. Also, doesnt really matter what holster you have as I have had most, and you get someone big enough, or come up behind you and yank hard enough.... that gun will come out.

Another question I have....... why do people get 9mm's, and .40's? If your going to shoot someone and it's life or death..... Makes sense you would want to put the biggest, hardest hitting round into them!

Another thing, seeing as how my wife's an attorney......... You can run into issues carrying a weapon that has been mod.'d out. They can use it in court to say you intended on "killing" a person becuase you made the gun easier to shoot, and kill. She worded it different. The gist of the idea was to leave the gun stock... if you carry it!

Now if it's strictly a "GunRange Queen" Have fun with it! But for that I would rec. a 1911 of some sort. Springfield, or Kimber being one of my fav's, & STI's are great. Those are the guns to MOD out and play at the range.

PM me THUMP, on any other aftermarket items you are looking for. I am great friends with the owner of a Local Gunrange... I get everything at cost. Might be able to ship you stuff for cheaper than your price at the gun shops. example... find out what kind of SAFE you want, I'll get a price here and we'll see if we cant save you some money!

PS: NX 100shot being installed this weekend! Will sell that here in a few months once I finish getting all the parts for the KenBell Blower!!

well in my .40s I carry Hydra-shoks only the 165 grain flavor

and in my .45 i carry the 117 grains aguila IQ I had the pleasure of shooting this round into ballistic jellatin last year and as far as penetration and wound channel, this stuff is awesome reliably 4 separate wound tracks and it is the fastest .45 on the market if I remember it is close to 1550 have not got to try the .40 yet but after it gets colder out again I'll be mixing up some more jell and trying them out if they are as impressive as the .45 I will be switching

BTW any of you that are stupidly concerned with lead issues from standard ammo the bullet is a alloy of 3 or 4 different "white metals" antimony, zinc, and tin or something along those lines no lead at all

Well if I could carry around a 12 gauge I would, but seeing as I can't I will stick with my 40. The ballistics and knockdown of 40.s&w and 45 auto have been debated for a long time. From my understanding with the right round you get almost exactly the same energy from the 40. with less recoil, more clip capacity, and cheaper ammo. Seems like a win win to me. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my 1911's and the 45 is a great cartridge, but I still prefer my 40. I like the recoil better out of the 40, its a bit snappier but I can get back on target faster than with the 45. When I shoot double taps with both, my groups are much closer and my shots are faster with my xd. As far as 9mm, some of the new ammo is very good, and I would feel confident in carrying one for protection. However I have heard lots of stories of people getting hit with 9mm and they just keep coming. So for me 9mm is strictly for the range, because it is cheap. I am about to buy a 9mm barrel for my 40 xd so I can shoot more often.

9's are for thugs and gangsta's who don't know any better...

40's are a necked down 10mm. Someone does not know know their balistics. A .40 has more knock down than a .357. Do some research, you may come around. Nothing that I am going to post, is gonna change your mind

scuse please there is nothing necked down about .40 a .40 is a shortened 10mm

the case length is 25.2 mm for a 10mm

the case length for the .40 sw is 21.6 mm

as far as the necked down 10mm that is a .357 sig cartridge that is a 10mm case that is bottle necked to accept a bullet that is between .355 and .357
also known as a 9mm (.355)

and all other things being equal the .357mag with the 158gr federal hollow point is the most proven manstopper (possibly because it has been in service the longest)

BTW the 10mm is closer to the impact energy to the .357 mag but you cannot cram enough powder into a .40 cal case to come close to the impact energy of the .357 the volume of the case is just not there

If you look at this chart it shows a 180gr hydra shock shot from a 4" barrel in 40 has 361 ft lbs of muzzle energy, and penetrates 15" of gel. A 230gr hydra shock shot from a 5" barrel in 45acp has 366 ft lbs of muzzle energy and penetrates 13.3" of gel. The 45 has a 94% one shot stop while the 40 S&W has an 89%. If you look at the Remington ammo the 40 blows the 45 away in muzzle energy and also has a 94% one shot drop rate.
So basically you get as good or better performance in a smaller gun that will hold more ammo and the ammo costs less.

I love Va Seriously though, I wish I could, but my dad said that as long as I'm under 21, he won't let me carry it Oh well, when I turn 21 I'm applying for my CHP anyways. Lucky for us Virginians we have idiots running it. You MUST open carry into any establishment that serves alcohol for on premises use. Good thing is that here in Nova a lot of people assume your a cop or some federal agent. It is funny how little people know about the laws regarding handguns in their own state.

Interestingly enough, the 125gr .357 outperformed both the .40 and the .45 in the test results shown here.

It's funny because until three months ago, someone under 21 years of age, could actually pay for the gun as long as someone 21+ was "getting" it. Some weird chit.
And that would be called politics....

If I was going to carry a revolver that is exactly what it would be also.
