Hey Thump, good looking piece. I had an XD just like yours except it was blue. I sold it and bought the compact version in bi-tone (the only time when I could justify being happier with a shorter one
). Both awesome guns. Glocks are great but I think you will be happier with the XD.

Well the gun didn't stay stock for too long ... I've put about ~500-600 rounds through it. I ended up getting a Powder River Precision Match Trigger Kit and Basic Easy Fit Kit which eliminates over travel, etc. The stock trigger pull is 6-7 #s and now it'll be 3-4 #s. Also got a guide rod on the way and plan on sending the slide out to get some night sights added.
I have a Sig with the TriJicon night sights and am very happy with them. Looks nice a nice gun you have there, but why just a 9mm for CCW?
I can appreciate being accurate and only needing one shot...but I would def. upgrade to a .40
I see guys shot all the time with 9's that end up walking out of the hospital days later, I would rather have a caliber with some ***** behind it to ensure they aren't getting back up.
Good luck with your purchase.

Well my plan was to use the gun for CCW. I've come to the realization it's probably going to be too big to carry conceal comfortably. I'm probably going to end up buying a XD Sub Compact, possibly .40 or maybe even a 9mm. I understand about the damage a 9mm will do. Shot placement and bullet choice is very critical as well. I've seen the balistic information on the "big 3" calibers and the 9mm and .40 aren't a big enough difference for me. I can make it up with ammunition and shot placement. Considering I sell my other Mustang. I'm thinking about using a XD9SC for my carry weapon. I'll keep it completely stock. I'll get the XDm for a carry weapon during the winter and to have fun with at the range. Keep my current gun for a range queen. Of course this is just a rough idea.
My girlfriends dad carries loaded guns in all his vehicles. He just doesn't give a damn. I think with the proper certification, you should be allowed to carry a weapon to protect yourself with. I keep a loaded rifle in my truck. Under rear seat.
