The Decision : Xbox 360 or PS3?
The Decision : Xbox 360 or PS3?
Ok. Heres the deal. Im a month or so im planning on getting a console since PC gaming is really starting to crap out. Im either getting an xbox 360 or a ps3 obviously. Itll either be the $350 xbox, or the $400 ps3, but i need a final decision. Right now im leaning towards a 360 since im more familiar with them because ive played them before, never played a ps3. Mainly getting it for GTA:IV and madden 2009 since they stopped the madden series for pc, along with the NHL, and im sure other games i will want to get that are not going to be released for PC. Whats your opinion. One group of people ive discussed it with are trying to tell me xbox 360 has too many problems, but other says ps3 has too many problems

there is ups and downs to both. as of right now there is more games available for the x-box but it has been out 1 year more then the ps3. the x-box u need to pay for online playing where with the ps3 it is free. the ps3 also doubles as a blue ray disc player. i chose the ps3 but u cant go wrong either way.
Does Xbox have a Blu Ray attachment drive yet? I'v ebeen out of it for quite a bit. Much of the decision is personal preference. I hate the Xbox controllers. Besides that, Blu-Ray is the current future in movies and gaming which should make for an obvious choice in my opinion. Blu Ray discs hold more data allowing for more detail, larger maps etc. The only downside really to PS3 is it's potential is being achieved by developers yet. Games aren't really operating on half of wha the PS3 is capable of doing. Which is why PS3 is runing at half the frames of Xbox in some games.
Also, if I didn't already own a PS3, I would buy one just for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. That game is absolutely amazing.

Im having the same problem in choice also. ^ is dead on with the PS3 being a blu ray player, which to me would solidfy the deal. But I already have a Blu ray player, so I will probably get a 360 top save money.
I'm not just saying to get it because you can play blu ray movies because lets face it, the PS3 isn't going to be the best Blu Ray player on the market. In time everyone is going to have a stand alone Blu Ray player anyway if they don't have one already. The point I was trying to make was based on the games themselves. Take Unreal Tournament for example. The PS3 version which is Blu Ray has much larger maps that on Xbox 360 you would have to purchase and download to the hard drive for the same thing.
Im still leaning towards Xbox 360. only 50 bucks for a year of Live ( i know ps3 is free but xbox live has SO MUCH stuff you can do). Plus xbox is a little cheaper. I think best buys service plan is more for the ps3 too...

I own both so I will chime in here. The 360 is leaps and bounds ahead of the PS3 in choice of game titles. If that is a concern to you, then by all means go with the 360. The graphics are great, selection of games is alright, if you are into the alien shooter thing, and so forth. With that being said, my 360 just sits and collects dust since I have owned my PS3. The potential is through the roof with this system, and as stated, its only been touched. The controllers are better, to me, they are capable of being charged through the system instead of batteries. The PS3 has a wireless card built in, where the 360 must be connected to a LAN line or buy an adaptor for wireless. PS3 is capable of 1080i and with HDMI on my Plasma TV, it is unreal, especially with Blu Ray. Not sure what 360 is shown in.
My vote goes to the PS3. (If you go with the PS3, look into the reverse compatiblity of the PS2 games being played on it. I purchased the 80GB model for that reason, where the 40GB was not able to, this may have changed, but something to consider)

I don't know enough about the PS3 to give any advice, but you can get a 360 cheaper now, it has more game now, and if you really want, get a PS3 a year or two down the road once the price drops a little.
Halo 3, GTA4, Oblivion, Lost Odyssey, Gears of War 2 (not out yet) should keep you busy for a while.

360....Ive seen gamer mags that pick the 360's gameplay over the PS3..I have the 360 and a standalone blu-ray player....I like the 360's controller...it's big and buttons are spaced out...the PS has a tight button config (I have big hands
)
now as for games......neither have games that WOW me...Im playing Ace Combat 6, and have GTA IV sitting wrapped in wrapping paper waiting for the 14th(my birthday).....tick tock

xbox hands down dude.. PS3's online experience is below average.. that what XBOX is known for its XBOX LIVE.... graphic wise there very very similar, but personallly i thnk the the xbox runs alot smoother... the ps3's frame rate can be sketchy.. if you want blue ray go buy a seperate one and get the 360.. Plus there are a lot better games on 360.. i mean were talking Rainbow six: Vegas, Halo3, Gears of War.. whatever you want though.. check out YOUTUBE and you can look at some comparision VIDEOS>.

Another vote for the 360. I did have a problem with the three rings of death, but I sent the unit in and I got a "brand new" unit back in about a week and have been fine since. The way I look at the Blu Ray is, I really do not want to burn out a game console watching movies. I would rather have a separate unit with more options and better quality. The PS3 is also what $500.00 bucks?? You can get a new 360 for half that..
360. The only thing I can say that the PS3 is better at is graphics. But gameplay, titles, online play, etc. the 360 OWNS. Xbox Live to PS3's is like a Harley-Davidson F-150 to a scooter. Not only that, but I hear there are some serious problems going on with Sony. A friend of mine (diehard PS3 guy) had his up and die one day for no reason and Sony won't take it back, so hes out $400. Besides, since the Xbox has been out for longer, its got more support and all the kinks have been worked out. The PS3 still has some faults. I recently played my uncles and in almost every game the load time took forever and it skipped and lagged. Also happens on my friends PS3 before it dies on him.
360 FTW
