Neither of my daily drivers liked the cold weather we had here in Texas this week! The ‘05 Escape wouldn’t start on Tuesday morning so I hopped into the ‘97 Cavalier for a quick run to Walmart and when I tried to get back in the car I couldn’t get the doors unlocked! Ran back into Walmart and got some powdered graphite which seemed to resolve the door lock issue.

Haven’t messed with the Escape yet since I was on the road most of the week for work, but I’m thinking the battery might have spit the bit. For some reason or another I can never seem to keep batteries in that thing - around the 3-year mark I am usually replacing whatever is in there. I’ve tried Motorcraft, Autozone, and Walmart batteries and they all seem to provide the same short service life......

Been helping MawMaw around the house and getting the camper ready for a trip this coming Friday. Now I'm waiting on the Saints vs Eagles to come on at 3:30. Beautiful day and in the mid 70's. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

Watching the Texans-Redskins game and Alex Smith looks like he is done for the year with a fractured lower leg.

Oddly enough, this is the EXACT same date that Joe Theismann’s career with the Redskins was ended by a lower leg fracture back in the ‘80’s.....

Didn't watch the Texans-Redskins game but I remember Theismann getting his leg broken by Lawrence Taylor. Watched the Saints/Eagles game this evening. The Eagles played like Rice University!! Saints play the Falcons Thanksgiving night and its usually a close game.

Staying in Houston this year for Thanksgiving instead of making our normal trek to the sister-in-law’s place up in Colleyville. As the official family cook it’s going to be an easy one for me - neither the wife or kid cares for the big turkey feast so instead it’s homemade meat sauce and spaghetti as our holiday meal! I’m going to miss the taters and gravy but sure won’t miss the massive clean-up, so I guess it all balances out....

Heading out for a family hike and then a late lunch at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants - hope everyone has a good one!

Built motor is on route, so I started to pull mine last night. Pretty straight forward so far, and I'll do some more on it today.

batteries used to be 5-7 years typically, in the last 8 years or so it seems 3-5 is the average lifespan

there are only 2 or 3 battery manufacturers in the USA, so doesn't matter the "brand" that sold it to you, it all came from the same place. I typically recommend Walmart because they carry the best warranty

I change out batteries at 3 to 3.5 years as part of regular maintenance. That way I don’t have to deal with it at an inconvenient time. They don’t cost so much that I’m throwing much away and I have peace of mind.

Happy belated Pat!

My Taurus battery lasted nearly 2.5 years - pretty sad. My Interstate Megatron Plus has been awesome in my truck... 5+ years now.

I keep a jumper pack in each vehicle, but my Taurus died in the driveway and I couldn't get it started with the pack.

Happy Thanksgiving!
