Had some free time today so I spent a little time messing around with the new 2001 Mustang I picked up. The original owner installed a CAI so I pulled the cover off only to find the K&N filter laying loose inside the housing.....

No way of knowing how long it had been like that but I guess I’m glad I popped it open to check.....

i would look around and find a stock air box for the mustang.

10 or 15 years from now, the money for that car will be in a 100% original condition ones. easier to find now than later.

i have done a few things to my lightning but i have all of the stock parts put away. same with my corvette.

Yep - the factory air box and filter came with the car and I already have them boxed-up for safe keeping. This is actually the first time I’ve had a vehicle with a CAI - I’ve been toying with the idea of just putting the factory unit back on and being done with it but this is one of the few times I’ve actually liked the look of the aftermarket piece better than factory. Not really going to have time to sort this car out until fall so I have some time to think about it....

Wow! I can't believe this thread is still going. I just logged in for the first time since 6-14-15, it's nice seeing familiar names still present. Hope everyone has been well over the years that have passed.

There is no question that the unmolested condition of my Mustang is what drew me to the car. The strange thing is, I’m now debating how far I want to take the car as far as modifications go....

Virtually everything I want to do is pretty minor and can be easily converted back to stock if desired - exhaust, rims & tires, maybe a grille delete, etc. I’d say the most extreme mod I’m toying with is covering the roof in vinyl (Shelby stripe blue) but I suppose that can be easily removed as well.....

Up in Vail for our family vacation - the weather has been heavenly compared to what’s been going on back home in Texas the last few days! Two more nights in Colorado, then it’s back to the salt mine for me.....

Looking forward to September when the wife and kid go back to school, the weather cools a bit, and I can spend some quality time with my babies out in the garage.....

My truck is getting the wick turned up. Full custom built motor should be here in a couple of weeks and getting installed by a Ford dealer.
RMB motorworks motor
Custom built to my budget and needs, big features:
- HeadGames Ported heads with upgraded Valve springs and Pocket Port
- Manly I-Beam rods
- Custom 9.7:1 JE Pistons with Coating
- Closed Deck Block
- Gen 2 Crank
- XDI-35 HPFP
- Custom HPFP Cam

Also adding a Circle D torque converter and this set up will pair well with the full bolt-on set up (with upgraded manifolds and turbos) I had before.

Very cool, I have a set of Stifflers coming for my truck. Started to get some hop after I pulled the rear sway bar off (needed more offroad flex).
