Steens syrup...Community coffee and chicory "New Orleans Blend"...you're off to a good start. Now for some raw oysters..boiled crawfish..hot boudin and you'll be an honorary Cajun!
Welcome Boudreaux!!

Yep, Community Coffee is all I buy. I can handle all of it except the oysters. Have to pass on those. I substitute tamales and tacos.

Have you ever tried Steens on biscuits? Or Community Coffees chicory blend? Habit forming stuff.

Carmichael's makes a pretty good cane syrup also but it's hard to find. Wife ordered some online. A little thicker then the Steen's.
Steen's also makes a blended syrup..cane and corn based.

I’ll look for the Carmichael’s. Steens is getting hard to find here. I eat it usually twice a week, have honey with biscuits a couple of days each week.

Carmichael's also makes honey. They show Youngsville, La. which is South of Lafayette as there location. Mixed some Carmichael's with peanut butter and put on toast...had the 2 youngest grandsons hopping off the walls!! Energy boost. Love it on cornbread and biscuits too. Pancakes it's a must!

Look up Carmichael's Honey and Syrup LLC on Facebook.

HEB grocery here doesn’t have Steens in the bottles but they have it in pint metal cans. Like paint cans with a big lid. What would you do with syrup in a can like that? Maybe cooking?

Remember - I’m a Yankee - biscuits and cornbread aren’t part of my vernacular!

I love the smell of coffee but can’t stand the taste of it - my morning caffeine fix is served ice cold in a can!

However, my waistline would tell you that I’ve taken quite well to 20+ years of Texas barbecue.....

you poor pitiful thing. I forget what a burden being a Yankee must be. I didn’t start drinking coffee till about 10 or 15 years ago. Now I miss it if I don’t have it every morning. All that junk in soft drinks will kill you. Buttered biscuits is mana from Southern heaven.

I really wish I liked coffee - I have such a vivid memory of my parents firing up their coffee pot first thing every morning (the old school kind where you saw the coffee bubbling up into that little glass button on the lid) and smell is wonderful! But no matter how much cream or sugar I dump into it I can’t seem to get a hankering for it.....

Fortunately, the wife likes it so at least I still get to smell it most mornings....

No cream or sugar. Got to be straight black. Has to be a smooth blend, no acid bitter taste. That’s what I like about Community Coffee blends. Haven’t found a bitter one yet and I have tried several. My favorites are the Breakfast Blend and the Chicory Coffee Blend.

Do you still have any of your old cars? I think I remember you selling your 60’s era Mustang a few years back, but didn’t you have an old truck as well?
