Here's another singer we lost last week...Frankie Ford from Gretna, La.
Quite a character that performed for many years on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Finally got to install my subwoofer I bought. Factory Sony 700 sub, super duty amp, and a line out convertor.

Sounds pretty good considering it's pieced together, and I've only got less than 200 bucks in it

I saw that about Frankie Ford but did not know about Billy Joe Royal. I have some of his CDs and listen to them a lot on the road. A unique sound.

The factory Sony subs sound the best if you're playing a CD. The Sirius radio sounds the worst. Factory HD on FM sounds OK also.

For $200 bucks that's hard to beat!

Sirius uses about half the bit rate of FM, and FM is about half the bit rate of CDS

I just saw that about Billy Joe Royal on facebook a few hours ago. Frankie Ford was a down to earth guy that lived not too far from me when I lived in Gretna, La. I'd talk to him at the grocery store every now and then. All these singers from 50 and 60 yrs ago are seeming to leave us too soon...Fats Domino is still with us thank God. He's still living in the New Orleans area but in his 80's he's slowing down.

I still listen to Pandora and some music on my I phone and it sounds OK but still can't top the CD's. I'm getting hard of hearing in my left ear from listening to loud music for the last 50+ years!!

I too, have gone almost completely deaf in my left ear. All within the last year. My wife blames the loud music. Fats is still one of my all time favorites. He was special back in the late 50s and early 60s.

His home in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans was destroyed in Katrina and he took that hard. He had a fairly nice home in the middle of a poverty stricken area...down to earth man that never forgot his roots. He was taken to the Westbank side of New Orleans where I think he still lives with friends.

Here's the great Fats with his classic!

I loved all his hits, I'm Walkin, Ain't That a Shame, Walking to New Orleans, I Want to Walk You Home, Blue Monday, and more.

Didn't he get into debt in Las Vegas and end up having to live there and perform his debt off for a period of time? Seems like I recall he was like a hostage to the mob for awhile.
