ManualF150's Beer Thoughts...
Unfortunately I can't get Yuengling here in GA, but I stock up whenever i happen to jump down to Florida. Had a pretty good beer in Atlanta last weekend called Pacifico. Some Mexican beer I'd never heard of before. I was told it tastes better with a lime, but I'm not gonna stick fruit in my beer. Similiar to Corona, but less bite. slight aftertaste, but smooth flavor.

Next up on the chopping block... Saranac High Peaks Series Imperial Stout...

According to the label it says the following: Mt. Marcy, Skylight Algonquin... Majestic Adirondack High Peaks - They are the inspiration for our "High Peaks Series", a line of beers that are bigger, more complex and flavorful beers, that are meant to be sipped and savored. The second in our series. Saranac Imperial Stout, is brewed with eleven malts to balance a delicious chocolate and coffee roased flavor with the spicy herbal character of the generous kettle and dry hops. At 50 IBU's this beer captures the essense of the Adirondacks.
My thoughts: Lives up to what it says. It tastes nasty if you chug it. It is not recommended for the unseasoned drinker. I can say it does get you buzzed quick at it's impressive 9.0% alcohol content. However, the beer is black and when I mean black... I mean it is blacker than black coffee. Probably a lot won't like it -- You have to have a knack for dark beers. I personally think it is too burnt of a taste, as it leaves a charcoal taste in my mouth after a while. But it also has a good taste of a darker coffee. It's not that bitter, but it's not a beer to be drinking in excess as it is probably not that good to enjoy this way. I think 3 to 4 beers and it will fill you up totally. I'm on my second, and I am full and kinda buzzed... but I know the alcohol will get to me in a little while. What is missing is the chocolate taste they mention... all I taste is the coffee type taste... which is kind of overwhelming. It's like drinking a Starbucks coffee, but cold and with alcohol. I don't like that it has a lot of alcohol content in it, and you can really taste it. I'm not a big fan of it.
Would I drink it again? Well... since it was a specialty beer, that was locally made, the price was like $12 total for a lousy 6 pack, and the fact that it had so much alcohol in it... probably not. I like beers that you can enjoy the flavor and not get smashed from drinking 3 or 4 of them. Plus the price... especially for a local beer. Kinda surprised me... but I had to try it.
Another thing I noticed was the head on the beer was very good. So I can tell it was made with a lot of care.

Anyhow... let's get back on track here...
My next beer that I had to investigate was some Blue Moon. So I went out and bought some Blue Moon Belgian White Wheat Ale.
My thoughts:
I kinda like the citrusy flavors of orange. The next time I have one, I might as well get some orange juice and mix it in there. The beer has a decent head on it, the beer is unfiltered, it has orange peels in it and it leaves a great aftertaste; making you want more. The beer almost needs to be stirred constantly to keep the orange peels from standing on the bottom. I recommend this beer for people who want a "fancy" or "girly" type of drink. I'd have to rate this next to Mike's Hard Lemonade. It's great if you want to get drunk off a beer that tastes like oranges; not sure how it'd taste coming back up though. There also has been a lot of rave on the radio at least lately about this beer, but I wouldn't drink it again though. I got a 12 pack, and the 1 that I had was enough for a good taste test.
Personally, it's a so-so beer. It's really easy to get tired of. Not to mention it's 5.4% alcohol content is kind of high for a wheat beer. But the moot point is that I only recommend this beer for people that like flavorful beers. If I was a flavorful beer type person, I think it would hit home. But I'm not. So to be biased, I like making that remark.
Would I buy it again? Maybe... but only in a 6 pack.
(Will post pic tomorrow... don't feel like posting one... got 11 more, so I can sneak a pic in later.)

Blue Moon is a somewhat typical example of a Belgian white ale. The beer is orange-amber in color with a cloudy appearance due to the fact that it is unfiltered. It is also spiced with coriander and orange peel in addition to the hops found in most beers. Blue Moon does have a more pronounced orange flavor than many other beers of the style. The grain bill for Blue Moon includes malted barley, white wheat, and oats.

It just works. It starts not to strong and finishes very clean, my 2nd would be Bud Select, a very easy drinking beer. I could say the same about all you fairies that drink flavored beer, but that wouldn't be very nice and I would be judging someone I don't know.
How can you argue with the "MOST" popular beer in the world? You want to give your opinion about beer, that is great, but don't say that others opinions who choose differently don't count because you don't agree.

When I was in College, bars would not serve Bud...to keep a certain element out of the establishment...

I was trying to figure out how they made it so thick.
Thanks for catching it.
And yes, it's a really sweet beer....
Well... after a long wait... I've been free enough to try some different beers... I've lived on Rolling Rocks and Coronas too long... time for some world beers again... Yum!
I have on the chopping block.. some Hacker-Pschorr. It is a semi-filtered wheat beer, with a mildly bitter taste. It is brewed in Munich, Germany, and the alcohol content is 5.5%. In my opinion, it is an ok beer, but it is something different to try. It kind of reminds me of Blue Moon lacking the orange...
Also, I have some Amarit NB... it is a naturally brewed beer. It has a rather unique taste to it. It tastes as if it has champaqne mixed with beer. It has a 5% alcohol content, and it is brewed in Thailand. In my opinion, unless you like wierd beers, this is not for the average drinker. This takes some gaul to drink. There is nothing comparible to this as from what I've ever had. It's very unique and not for the beginner.

Wow, it's been a while, but I thought I'd bring this one back up the top... The fall season seems to bring out the best of beers.
Here is today's offering:
Highland Cold Mountain Winter Ale

Hailing from Asheville NC, this is one tasty brew! It's a mildly malty ale, brewed with spices which vary from year to year, but always seem to include vanilla. It pours dark with a semi-creamy head and has hints of hops when smelled.
It's usually pretty hard to find, I came across this bottle at a local wine distributor's store. They had 2 bottles left, I might have to go buy the other one after work!
