Finally after drinking 2 24 packs of coors, and Rolling Rock... I'm going to be back on track. I hate the holidays... instead of gifts, they gave me beer...

Anyhow, let me get to my point...

Up on the chopping block, I've got some George Killian's Irish Red. The taste is very smooth, and somewhat bitter. It leave a semi-burnt after taste - so bewary. It is a dark beer and the head on it is not that great, but I've seen far worse.

Do I recommend it? Yes, if you like the darker, richer tasting beers.

Here's a pic:

Ahh, yes, a beer thread. Leave it to a bunch of Ford guys to sit around in intellectually discuss the wonderful beverage known as beer. Why has it taken me so long to find this thread? But I digress.

I took a trip to Busch Gardens a couple of years ago and was pleased to find out that all legal-aged patrons got two complementary beers during their visit. Being with three of my friends (all of whom are avid beer drinkers like myself) we decided to take them up on this little offer. We had our choice of numerous well-known beers like Bud, Bud Light, Michelob, and the usual Anheiser-Busch products. Upon instruction from the barkeep, we tried one of their newest beers: Bare Knuckle Stout. As the name implies, it was definately stout. It made Guiness look like a lager. I dont really remember all the little details about it, but if you like to chew your beer, that is the one for you.

My list of favorites (and I'm sure I'll get lashed for some of these)
1. Bud light
2. Landshark
3. Blue Moon
4. Yeungling
5. Amber Bock

I'll have to try some of those that you guys mentioned earlier in the thread. Although, I dont know if I can get most of them down here in Florida. I'll give it a shot though!!

Anyone who thinks bud, coors, miller, etc is good beer should be forbidden from posting in this thread.

I never understood why people make comments like this. I have drank beer from all over the world. I consider myself versed in the different types and flavors of beer. I have brewed many different types of beer. I like many of the beers I have tasted and brewed. I also have found some I don't like so much. You want to know what my favorite beer is? Budweiser! It just works. It starts not to strong and finishes very clean, my 2nd would be Bud Select, a very easy drinking beer. I could say the same about all you fairies that drink flavored beer, but that wouldn't be very nice and I would be judging someone I don't know.

How can you argue with the "MOST" popular beer in the world? You want to give your opinion about beer, that is great, but don't say that others opinions who choose differently don't count because you don't agree.

You are almost correct. According to the Anheiser-Busch Beer School, Bud Light is the top dog, followed closely by Budweiser. But I do agree with you, they are both excellent and there is obviously a reason they are #1 and #2.

To put it bluntly, the last thing this thread needs is another Joe Beerdrinker coming in here saying how good Bud Light, Coors, PBR, etc is. The point of this discussion is to branch out to different beers and try new things.

So are we fairies or not? I couldn't tell if you were judging us there or not.

Most popular by no means equals best. Sure Toyota's are very popular but they can't compare to a Porsche. Those mass produced beers are popular because they're cheap and most people don't drink them for their refined flavors. People don't tailgate with high gravity microbrews because the point of tailgating is to get drunk, not appreciate beer. To that end, nobody wants to spend alot of money so there's old reliable Bud Light. We've all been there, but that doesn't mean it's the best or anywhere close to it.

Sooooo, if I understand you correctly, the reviews that ManualF150 have been posting are not of mass produced beers? I believe Rolling Rock, Killians, Guiness and Yeungling are all very widely sold beers.

To my understanding, beer is beer. Its all a mixture of barley, hops, and yeast. And furthermore, not everyone is gonna like the same beers. Some will like the mass produced stuff and others will enjoy the microbrews.

It shouldnt be the type of beer that splits us, but the love of beer that unites us!

Again, you judge, if we like those beers, you claim our opinion is no longer wanted nor valid

Thank you, but I don't do it to act like I know best, I simply like beer!

Why don't you re-read that!

Hmmm, where to start. I don't really get how a beer can be a "Porsche" of beer, since both of those cars mentioned tend to be in the higher pricing with regards to cars. But I will try and follow...... With that reasoning, you are trying to claim that a more expensive beer is better, correct? Why can't Budweiser being the most popular beer also be one of the better beers? Being different isn't alway better! A lot of the beers you claim are "better" are more expensive becuase of how they are produced and manufactured, not becuase their ingredients or process are any different. Budweiser has streamlined the process, just like any manufacturer of a product does, thus, lower the cost by becoming more efficient.

Becuase you drink different or a more expensive beer that doesn't make you a beer connoisseur by any means. All opinions should be welcome as that is how we gain knowledge. That is the only reason I posted. Whether it is the Miller drinker (can't stand the stuff for the record), or the most expensive beer available, by listening to other opinions about the topic at hand make us better people, and more rounded if you will (no pun intended).

They keep the cost down by substitution of quality ingredients with corn and rice. Budweiser is a great thirst quencher but not a great beer.
Budweiser is to beer as McDonalds are to hamburgers.

Well, if we're fairies for liking our beer to have flavor, then you must be inbred to Bud your favorite beer.

Yup, I guess that sums it up!

So you're saying that you don't see a difference between a Toyota and a Porsche? You believe these are equivalent vehicles?

No, I'm saying that just because product A sells more quantity than product B, that doesn't mean product A is better than product B. Just like how Toyota sells more cars than Porsche, but that doesn't mean Toyota's cars are better than Porsche's.

Because it tastes like ***. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good, just look at American Idol!

I don't think blueberry flavored beer should ever be on the market, that is not beer!

You either have a problem reading or comprehending, neither which I can fix.

:sigh: And I am saying why can't the top seller be better? Just becuase it sells more it is then deemed less good?

I am not saying becuase it is popular therefore it is good, I am saying just becuase it is popular it doesn't mean it is bad. The F150 is popular, does that mean it is bad? It is with your reasoning.

I am not even sure what you mean by this, if you mean the comments you included in your response, that is sort of hard, you were getting ahead of yourself. If you mean something you said in an earlier conversation, please direct me towards to it so I can get clarification.
