Power,Versatility,Reliability, Build Quality,Outstanding Service, goes hands down to a DEERE. Yeah, they do cost more for a reason! I had talked to many a professional Landscaper, to Contractors, before droppin the $$$ on the Deere, & they all told me ya get what ya pay for, & nothing compares to the Deere..........after developing 3 acres of land, after the house was built, this thing almost has paid for itself, & will ,come next spring! I work the &*^% out of it & it begs for more all year round.............. today I cut down trees, big trees, & then pulled them out of the brush to be cut up, the Diesel has Torque, Torque, Torque, Like the reviews stated," The X-595 Diesel, is a Gorilla in a Monkey Suit." "This is a Garden Tractor on Steroids." "This thing performs like a Compact Utility tractor, even though it's a Garden Tractor.!"
Yeah you can say that I am happy with the purchase........

Have you ever used anything other than a John Deere mower? I actually thought you were talking about a REAL tractor not a lawn mower ..

I'm done here just because of that .. LOL

Well, I bought one... and I installed it... mind you this isn't a *light* tractor... it's actually meant for pushing and pulling... not just cutting lawns.

I got a 48" Dozer Blade for it, that angles 30 degrees left or right... or you can run it straight. It's really easy to use too... not to mention it is very heavy duty... more so than I expected it to be.

How does it work?! I don't know yet... possibly this will be about the only time in my life when I wish there was some snow to test it out.

The chains were easy to install, and such. I still need to get the wheel weights and the block weights.

As far as the install... it took me about 4 1/2 hours give or take a few beers. No real PITAs besides getting a tension spring on... but I'll never have to really worry about it ever again.

Quality? It's not that bad. It's very sturdy and it looks like it will do the job well. It is painted VERY well. Almost afraid to use it.

But it looks like I'll get many years out of it.

I plan on getting the deep 'V' tread Ag tires next week along with some wheel weights. I shouldn't have a problem with those items.

So here are some pix I snapped:

A set of wheel weights would probably help too. I know you said it is made for more than mowing, but not hooking up tractionwise will save alot of wear and tear on your driveline. A snowblower attachment would be the way to go IMO, as far as the tractor would know it is would be mowing grass in July rather than moving snow in December. Enjoy the paint now, if you push much snow it won't be sticking around, at least on the blade.

We push snow around with a old Deere (1946 B), it is super sweet and as reliable as a hammer. Since the mag was 180 degrees off it set my dad back a whopping $25 30+ years ago, just routine stuff since. It has been worked like a borrowed mule so some fairly major maintenance stuff has been coming up, it needs axle seals badly and a overhaul wouldn't hurt... but has more than earned them over the many flawless years it has hammered away without a whimper. I also like some orange stuff, (Allis Chalmers or Case orange that is) I have never been around much newer stuff however, we have pretty much adapted our old junk to do what we need for far, far less money.

Well, I got a set of wheel weights this morning... I just need to get around to installing them... It probably won't be until Wednesday... but it can wait... as those chains should be ok for a week.

I very much doubt we will have any snow by the time I get them.

Anyhow, yeah, my GT works well for pulling stuff... so I can only imagine what it can push. I've got a double axle dump cart rated for 2,000 lbs. I've had it loaded to about 2,200 lbs with top soil... tractor pulled it like it was a joke up many hills and through pretty bad terrain with those turf tires. I spun a little bit... but not much at all, surprisingly.

All I can say is that it is a mean and tough small tractor. It has always started first shot and runs VERY well. I've already got 283 hours on it, been through a set of plugs, 2 oil and filter changes, and 2 fuel filters, and 2 air filters. My only complaint about this tractor is that it should have a radiator... for 27 hp, being air cooled... I'm really surprised they didn't water cool it. It generates a LOT of heat during the summer... but during the winter I suppose that would be a plus for it. A friend of mine has a SLT1554, basically the same tractor, but doesn't have the HD transmission and the E-Z Quick Connect hitch to use a variety of MTD and non-MTD parts. Like the plow I bought, it isn't made by MTD, it is made by Agri-FAB. It is a universial plow kit not only for tractors employing a pinned EZ-Connect, but also ATVs as well. It's pretty neat that I can use this plow on a ATV too.. if I ever got one... that's why I saved all the extra hardware, just in case.

I just can't wait to use it for snow. I messed around with it today, in a dirt/stone pave. I dropped the skids to about 1/4 of an inch to level the driveway to make sure there wasn't any stones to be messing up the snowblower that might find its way hidden in the snow. It did an impressive job. It will be a lifesaver during the summer when I plan on doing some grading with topsoil. I was reading in the manual, that it is not only designed for snow removal, but grading, and leveling. I was amazed at how level it made everything. Equal to a regular bulldozer or tractor, and it doesn't tear the area up.

It was the best $600 I could've ever spent.

LOL .. Apparently you don't realize what I do for a living. I own a landscaping company, I do site development and land clearing on the side. Local dealers here who sell BOTH Kubotas and JDs, all recommend the Kubotas for someone who is going to use it. The JD for someone who wants the name. Please don't preach to me about affording it. My Kubota was MUCH more than your lawn mower. My zero turn was right up there with yours too boot.

PS: Stop hitting your head on the keyboard and hitting the period key.

Your KUBOTA is a compact series Lawn Mower, my Deere is a Garden Tractor......Landscapers around here, who operate in much harsher conditions than your 75-80 degree weather, all agree that a Deere is way more tougher, & dependable than a Kubota cheaply made junk, compare apples to apples, a John Deere Compact/Utility would crush that Kubota Junk.......my friend who owns a Pest Control Company has one, he looked at comparable Kubota's.......just like I looked at Kubota garden tractors, we both agreed they are junk compared to a DEERE.......

Yall should have a duel of which is the toughest. Thump's Kubota vs. Mr. Patriots John Deere. Just run into each other until one person's mower/tractor/garden tractor/whatever is dead. The last one rolling wins!!

So it's made by Toyota now? Check your keyboard, I think your period button gets stuck.
