Jditta- Have you ever gotten pulled over for having your music turned up too loud before this? If not I don't see why he didn't just let you off with a warning.

Well if that all they want to pull me over and talk to me about, then I'll chat.

Seriously, they are just playing the odds too....
If one out of 100 random traffic checks, finds a drunk driver or a person with a warrant or worse and gets them off the streets before they kill me, my family or someone...... Then I'll gladly be one of 99 that they pull over and talk to. If I'm not doing anything wrong I dont have anyt5hing to worry about. If I am doing something wrong then the odds of getting caught just increased...... Even still, five mins of my time on occasion, maybe getting caught at some mionor infraction like window tint, is a worth while investrment to try and save someones (maybe my family or even my own) life. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Hopefully by stopping me, then he didnt miss the drunk that drove by while I was pulled over, that later hits me........ There is no way to know, they have to play the odds and try to put them in thier and our favor.

I know but with the run-ins I've had with cops I tend to side with the guy that gets the ticket most of the time.

When you have a cop waiting at your truck cause you had been parked in the "15 minute food parking" for 22 minutes and then a couple days later gives you a wreckless driving ticket for going through a water puddle you wouldn't think too highly of them either.

Oh and when I got pulled over for driving through that puddle, I parked next to my friends car who has a wall with 6 subs in it. Well as one of the lesbos was writing me my ticket, the other one looked in his window and saw the subs and yelled at him to come back to his car. They made him unlock it so they could search it and ended up giving him a noise ordinance ticket cause they heard someone driving around blaring music earlier. Too bad his amp had a blown fuse and the subs wouldn't even come on. Yea, you can't tell me some cops aren't full of crap. It felt good takin that one to court and getting it dismissed though.

Ive got nothing against the police and actually respect what they do and appreciate what they do for me, try living without them existing.

But there are some that are jerks (like in any other profession) I had one who stopped me five nights in a row then finally got me for faulty equipment because my plate light was out. I was pretty pissed with him to begin with for stopping me all the time, he kept accusing me of street racing since "why else would a kid have a car like this?" (my old Capri) When he gave me that ticket all I said was "Go ahead do what ya want"

Went before a magistrate, pleaded guilty with cause since it was a blown fuse, had the ticket tossed.

But, every other time they have always been professional and friendly. I got caught once peeling out of a parking lot in my Ranger at 2am. Deserved to be stopped, cop ran my plates and license and just asked me what I felt about what I did, I told him it was stupid and he just said take it easy and have a good night. Ive had some stop me and tell me I have a tail or brake light out, I just thank them for telling me and they go on with their night. Now those damn parking patriol douches (I call them meter maids just to **** them off), I hate them with a passion. Ive been given so many BS tickets over the years. One I was parked in a 2 hour zone for 15 minutes and got an "over time" ticket

Why one earth would you get a ticket for that??????

Just a wild guess, you argued the ticket and tried to plead you're case right there outside of court....

Another guess by wording and instinct.... Same cop?
Bwahahahahaha
Who could have seen that coming?????

If you were innocent why didnt you fight it too?

You are giving cops waaaay to much credit and entirley to much power over you! The only thing they can do is accuse you of something. THATS IT!!!! They can not sentence you and they can not make you pay a fine..... They simply can not, it is not any where close to being in thier power to judge anything. Thier job is to observe, and bring evidence to court for the judge(s) "and/or jury" depending on how far you fight it. Then is decided by judge and or jury, what "if anything" that you should pay in any way shape or form. Wether it be cash, jail sentence, community service or prison. Thats not the cops doing that.... That is the rest of us in society, us here on the boards and your next door neighbors, your calass mates and your co workers...... The cops just bring you infront of your city, or state and tells the community what they "think" you did.

Crazy will you ever get tired of whining? A few things to think about.

Driving is a privilege not a right, when driving you own the vehicle not the roads you operate on, and your vehicle must comply with both state and federal laws. Some of those laws are for safety and others are for uniformity, some are drastic while some seem very nit-picky but regardless they are all the laws you agree to when you start the vehicle and pull out of your private drive way and onto the public roadways of this country.

Cops do have discretion on minor infractions and sometimes write warnings but your constant whining has gotten old. Consider cops discretion for what it truly is, a blessing. If they wrote for every violation they saw how many times would you have been stopped and how many 1000’s of dollars in fines would you have paid for forgetting to use your turn signal that one time, not coming to a full and complete stop at the stop sign, failing to stop at a designated point at a stop sign/yield sign/red light. How many times would you have gotten equipment tickets for a defective head light that just went out or a tail lamp, brake lamp, license plate light? Sometimes you get a warning, sometimes you get a citation, deal with your mistakes quietly, no one wants to hear your constant venting.

All I can tell you on the issue of officers not always getting tickets from other officers is get over it. Our clientele are rarely happy or positive whether it’s a traffic stop or a murder scene. Officers know the job stresses that other officers go through so normally when stopped for a minor infraction there is some leeway given, it’s simply a perk of the job just like anyone else probably gets in their own professions. When it comes to major stuff, especially around here cops don’t get a break. I don’t know how it is in your town but this afternoon a sheriff deputy arrested a retired officer for 113 in a 65 for reckless driving. We may not sweat the small stuff but we don’t ignore major issues, brother in blue or not.

As far as the issue of officers nit-picking on violations that they themselves are guilty of I agree with you. If an officer is going to be **** out there then they sure better mind their own P’s & Q’s when off duty. That being said we all make mistakes and heck even I fear getting pulled over by an Austin highway enforcement unit.

No I didn't argue the parking ticket, I politely said, "Just give me the damn $15 ticket and let me get outta here."
And I sure did fight the wreckless driving ticket. That's like 4 points on your driver's license and after 6 or 7 points you get your license suspended. I got the security tape from the mall and all it showed was me driving through an unavoidable water puddle so I could park in the spot next to my friends car.

See, feel good that you likely assisted in thier not having a job for very long.... If an officer is constantly bringing bogus cases before court, that is a PR issue and waste of tax money. Since we the public are thier employer, bad PR means the chief and commisioner wont have a job very long, so they are going to get rid of anyone who is putting thier elected jobs at risk.

Trust me when I say you got off easy... my harrasment was 100x's worse.... To the tune of 4 tickets in 24 hours, and something like 24 tickets in 6 months by only 2 cops...... Long story... I initiated the circumstnace just by being a loud mouthed 18 year old ****y punk in a muscle car.....
If I'd lost the case (we compliled them into one big case), If I'd lost then I wouldn't likely be allowed to have a license for the rest of my life and probably would have just now, maybe been getting out of prison on parole!

ETA:
BY the way.... at teh give me teh damn ticket comment.... I've said that before too.
Only mine was "give me the damn ticket so I can get to work before I'm late, lose my job and cant pay the damn thing!!!!"
I was laughing when I said it, he laughed too and let me go with a verbal warning. This was after he asked why I was speeding and I said because I'm late for work AGAIN.... LOL

I'm still with Crazed on this one. He never once said that he doesn't appreciate what they do, he's just saying that there are a lot of douchebags that make the rest look bad. The fact is that even the most a$$hole cops put their life on the line every day. Just a week and a half ago their was a cop a couple blocks from my work who was looking for a stolen car, when somebody jumped out and shot him 5 times. He left a wife and 4 children. This guy may have been the most leniant and understanding cop in the world, or he may have been the a$$hole who gave somebody a ticket for 22 minutes in a 15 minute spot. I really don't know. Either way he was doing his job, and he didn't deserve to be treated like he was. Even though there are a lot of officers who play favorites, I will never say that I "hate" them.

That's why people don't like/respect cops.

I'm new to all this, didnt know how to go about removing it or what not:o

captain morgan, no this was the first time ive been pulled over for music, he didnt even write that in the ticket, just for the window tint, so it seemed to me like the music was an excuse to pull me over.

Be the grey man. Out of site, out of mind. One of the first posts here advises to keep a low profile, don't give them excuses to pull you over in the first place.......heed it, it's good advice. Trust me, I did 30 years with a badge.
