Maybe they can link THIS to his page in history so no one forgets his accomplishments.

Got news for you... new terrorists at the same rate would be comming for us weather we are there or not. Guess your trying to put your commong sense and feelings thinking the terrrorist have the same reasoning power as you. They don't. There is no negotiation with them. There koran tells them to kill us. Period. We can do nothing to change there mind. They hate us. Now we had to do something about it.
Your shortsightedness can only think of casualties. There is far more to the story than that. As far as casualties go, we are running a great war. Never before in history has so few been lost in such a long period. Every casualty is terrible. But they are fighting a worthwhile cause that could be over alot sooner if the dumbocrats would get out of the way and let us win. Instead they insist on trying to demoralize the troops and give comfort to the enemy. This is unacceptable and sickening.

Two wee ks ago, as I was starting my sixth month of duty in Iraq, I was forced to return to the USA for surgery for an injury I sustained prior to my deployment. With luck, I'll return to Iraq to finish my tour.
I left Baghdad, and a war that has every indication that we are winning, to return to a demoralized country much like the one I returned to in 1971 after my tour in Vietnam. Maybe it's because I'll turn 60 years old in just four months, but I'm tired:
I'm tired of spineless politicians, both Democrat and Republican, who lack the courage, fortitude and character to see these difficult tasks through.
I'm tired of the hypocrisy of politicians who want to rewrite history when the going gets tough.
I'm tired of the disingenuous clamor from those that claim they 'Support the Troops' by wanting them to 'Cut and Run' before victory is achieved.
I'm tired of a mainstream media that can only focus on car bombs and casualty reports because they are too afraid to leave the safety of their hotels to report on the courage and success our brave men and women are having on the battlefield.
I'm tired that so many Americans think you can rebuild a dictatorship into a democracy overnight.
I'm tired that so many ignore the bravery of the Iraqi people to go to the voting booth and freely elect a Constitution and soon a permanent Parliament.
I'm tired of the so called 'Elite Left' that prolongs this war by giving aid and comfort to our enemy, just as they did during the Vietnam War.
I'm tired of antiwar protesters showing up at the funerals of our fallen soldiers, a family whose loved ones gave their life in a just and noble cause, only to be cruelly tormented on the funeral day by cowardly protesters is beyond shameful.
I'm tired that my generation, the Baby Boom -- Vietnam generation, who have such a weak backbone that they can't stomach seeing the difficult tasks through to victory.
I'm tired that some are more concerned about the treatment of captives than they are the slaughter and beheading of our citizens and allies.
I'm tired that when we find mass graves it is seldom reported by the press, but mistreat a prisoner and it is front-page news.
Mostly, I'm tired that the people of this great nation didn't learn from history that there is no substitute for victory.
Sincerely,
Joe Repya, Lieutenant Colonel, U. S. Army

of course there are stupid republicans (they are republicans in name only... RINO for short). While I am a registered republican, I am only because that party most closely represents my views. A lot less closely lateley. I am a conservitive. The dumbocrats are getting closer and closer to socialisim... so that is even FARTHER from my views. Get the picture now?
The fact of the matter is that it isn't democrats, republicans, independents, dogs, cats, donkeys, elephants, that's the problem. It's the career politicians that's the problem, and the lobbyists lining the pockets of those career politicians to push the lobbyists' agenda. The people don't have a chance.

Hey Stealth---I have always thought it was interesting that a good ol' Texas guy would have the Redskins on his sig---considering they are the Cowboys biggest rivals...

I appreciate the passion---while I am a teacher and have some liberal views, I also have some strong conservative views as well---I guess I am more of a shade of gray than black or white in terms of politics...

Four surgeons are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on.
The first surgeon says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table, because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered."
The second responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded."
The third surgeon says, "No, I really think librarians are the best; everything inside them is in alphabetical order."
But the fourth surgeon shut them all up when he observed: "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, and no spine, and the head and butt are interchangeable."

The problem with this thread was right where it started, "bumper stickers for democrats." Like all Democrats, it started as "I can dish it out, but not take it."
The problem with the political parties is that the current Republicans are at or left of JFK. The Democrats are ready to fall off the left side of the Earth (in pre-Columbus lingo). We need to go WAY back to the original principles of this country. While the Republicans are closer to my viewpoint than the Democrats, I'd go a lot more conservative than that... like 1800 conservative. Back to the beginning, the basics.
As for "W" and the war - Repya hit the nail on the head. When you go to war, go to win - heart and head. We lost in Vietnam because we went to "even the odds". War is and has always been a win or lose proposition. Ties are loses.
