I don't make more than im worth... how can you put a price on a human??? All I know is that im in the union and if some old man wants to pay me 32 dollars an hour to shovel sand im fine with that. Im only 23 and have 5 years in. So when i retire at 50 with full pension and benifits ill be makin 6 grand a month. The union is sweet.

The old man doesn't want to. If he tried to cut your pay you all would strike, right?

32/hr to shovel sand? Trust me you are paid way more than the job is worth. You are making more than people with a lot more skill than you. For crying out loud if IT was unionized I'd probably be making 150 an hour.

God bless you for getting it but aint no way in _____ that job is worth that much money.

I don't shovel sand but I am trained in what I do. I have to do three years of millwright school and be a certified welder. Iv'e seen alot of guy come and go be cause they can't do it. The union gives you the training you need to be safe on the job. How to read msds sheets, confined space training, nuclear plant training, just to name afew. I have talked to non union guys where the employees are sent into confined space areas not knowing what is in there. I feel bad for them. Most times everything turns out ok but it only takes once.

I work for a non-profit organization, specializing in the service and repair of Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Isuzu vehicles.

I'm an internal auditor for a large massachusets based insurer. I just got my real estate license so I can sell some properties part time. Hoping to pass my CPA exam within the next year as well.

Here's my take on unions.
They were good at one time and maybe in other countries but they seem to be worthless now.

Here in my town the Harley plant was just on strike. why, because the union thinks the company makes enough profit and should share with the workers.
one of the thing they are complaining about is the starting wage for new workers. they start at $22.75 and Harley wants to reduce it to $18.50.
The local community would love to find a job paying $15 to start.
This strike also hurt other plants in other states because 400 worker had to be layed off.
If you, as a worker are not happy with a job then quit and find a better one, oh wait, it is the best job in the county but because of the union you think you can get more for doing less.

2 miles down the road is where Caterpillar used to have a factory but, during the strike in the late 90's Cat decided it was easier to close the factory than to keep putting up with the union BS. I was a scab during this strike.

I now work for a company that just bought out another company because it was going broke, with every company in the US in this field making record profits this company was struggling. It was a union company. Now we bought them out they are not union and most worker are glad.

Oh well, I'll keep my union job, and you taxpaying U.S. citizens can continue to do such so I can get paid to build fighter aircraft that protects this and other great countries.
