same here. my CB sits next to my Yaesu FT-2400 under my seat. i do UHF and VHF monitoring mostly now with the HAM range. i rarely use my CB unless i know someone in a convoy has one.

I got a cobra sitting on a console made for cb's. Looks pretty good. Don't pick up much people here though. I think my antenna isn't mounted good. Got it sitting on metal plate mounted on my plastic bed rail.
Does 2 antenna help? I know if I mounted my Lil Wilson on top of the truck it would pick up more, but I don't think it looks that good up there.

Bringing back this CB radio thread. I just used the one I just put on my truck and a portable model to head home with my friend driving his car. It was great and much easier to use and safer might I add, than cell phones

I've upgraded to VHF. I have a Kenwood TK-7180 in my truck that is preprogrammed for my Fire Dept. I've also put in a few itinerary channels so I can give my handheld to another car if we are going somewhere. VHF is more secure and better range in most cases (50W versus 4W). I am also a HAM operator and I do dabble in the 10m range (just outside of your 'CB') and the guys running insane power, or running different sidebands DO get reported since you need a license to run on those.

Eh, the GPS is just kinda hillbillied on there with an old suction cup mount stalk thinger 'till I build something better. The radar, CB, inverter, tuner, strip, and master off switch are hard mounted how I want 'em.

Well like most real men, I find time with the right hand while steering with a knee and eating a cheezeburger with the left.

Adrian, I agree. If you can eat a burger, talk on the phone, and shift your man card needs to be revoked!
