How Hot is it? (2006)

This just goes to show you that in Texas, night fall doesn't always mean a cool down, all it really means is, it got dark.

7:37 PM

9:07 PM

Honestly, the summer hasn't been too terribly hot this year, so far. Only about eight 100+ degree days so far, and 2-3 of those were in May (Spring).

How bad/good is it in your area...

Oh, BTW- I rode past the bank last night when my temp showed 101 (9:07 PM) and the bank showed 101 as well... I know that's not as accurate as the meteorologists, and whatever DFW may have been reading- but no matter what, it's still pretty darn hot for 9:00 PM.

Yeah, I've lived out there (Arizona), so I know about dry-heat.You step in the shade, it's maybe 20 degrees cooler...
Moving into the shade here, just means the suns not shining right on you any more, you're still hot as hale though...

I'll take 115 in Phoenix over 95 in Dallas, any day.

My house A/C quit wednesday. That tends to get one hot in more ways than one. It's fixed now though. Hell, my electric bill is $348.00 this month.

Pretty close to the same here as well, at 9am it's already 86 degrees here. Last night it was still about 100 at 8pm. It's supposed to be 105 today and 106 tomorrow Normally the humidity isn't that high here but lately it's been really really bad, feel sticky all day long.

I don't understand how the temperature increases as the sun goes down.

I remember back in the day when I was dating my girlfriend (now my wife) who was going to school in Las Cruces, NM. I was living back home in Minneapolis at the time, and would fly into El Paso, TX, to visit her.

I'd usually get into El Paso around 10:00 at night and we would make the drive back to Las Cruces along I-10. I remember how it used to freak this "Minnesota Boy" out to roll down the car window at 10:30 at night and feel this rush of HOT SCORCHING air coming in through the open window -- just as if it was coming out of an oven!

Let's just say the June breezes at 10:30 at night back in Minnesota were a tad cooler!

$441 for us- and we're on Averaging...

Farking TXU, rate jacking up emmer effers...

Last year (which was hotter) or Bill never broke $300.00

If I had it to spare, I'd get a new AC Unit ($5,000) and reinsulate my attic...

Is there any truth to that radiant barrier BS? I just don't see how a layer of what amount to aluminum foil, is gonna keep the heat from penetratign my ceiling, and permeatign my living space.

Growing up on the coast I used to think the same thing when I moved to the valley, but the hottest part of the day here is usually around 4 or 5 pm.

My old man wouldn't even put A/C in the house!

I swear, one of the first things that was done when I built my first home was to pour the slab alongside the foundation for the A/C unit!
