Here is television in the 'Good ole Days'....
The Cisco Kid...Duncan Renaldo ('oh Cisco'......'oh Pauncho')
Gunsmoke...James Arness (interesting trivia about opening theme)
Cheyenne...Clint Walker (I rolled my sleeves just like him)
Sugarfoot...Will Hutchins (can't get that theme outa my head)
Bronco...Ty Hardin (made the chin strap 'cool')
Have Gun Will Travel...Richard Boone (loved this one)
Wagon Train...John McIntire (rememder the cook?)
Maverick...James Garner (the Brad Pitt of the sixties)
Wanted Dead Or Alive...Steve McQueen (big star, small screen)
The Rifleman...Chuck Conners (not my favorite, he called his kid, 'boy')
Rawhide...Eric Fleming (clint before he was Clint)
Bonanza...Loren Greene (whole family gone now)
The Westerner...Brian Keith (later worked with 'Mr French')
The Virginian...James Drury (also a young Doug McClure)
Big Valley...Barbara Stanwyck (i consider it a 'modern' western)
Daniel Boone...Fess Parker (wasn't he Davey Crockett too?)
Branded...Chuck Conners (kicked outa the Fort every week)
Laredo...Neville Brand (Neville had a voice like sandpaper)

Would that be Jack Elam? One of my favorites too. he had the googly eyes.
But he wasn't really an old guy, Maybe Gabby Hayes?

Here is some trivia for you. Many famous Cowboy stars were taught to draw by a quick draw shooting champion. He taught James Arness of 'Gunsmoke'. They wanted him to do the opening sequence where Matt Dillion steps into the street for a showdown. He agreed, under one condition. No one in the World, literally, was faster than him. Marshall Dillon gunned him down in the opening score when the music stopped but, there are two gun shots, the first one is his. Marshal Dillion wasn't faster but his aim was true.
Arvo Ojala was the Man in Black. He went to the last roundup in 2005 at age 86.

My favorite Best Western is in Erie PA right on 90, indoor pool and an affordable rate. The one in Ripley, WV is nice, my grandparents used to stay there a lot. The one in Peterborough, ON is new, so it is nice as well...

It was one of the few things we used to do together...
I watched 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance' last night.
It is Black & White even though it was made in 1962, artistic reasons?
Anyway, I moved it to the top of my list, Best Western ever made.
