This post may be a little late, but 45 Canadian Emergency response team
members came home today. I do not know how long they were helping out
or what state. I did hear that they were subject to sniper fire, and no one was hit.

Some Canadians are relatives as well as good neighbors.

The Canadian Navy dispatched 2 war ships to the Gulf Coast with 1,000 men and both warships are full of food, medicine, blankets, and whatever else they can fit.
I hear of all kinds of fund raising going on in Canada to help the victoms.
Every little bit helps.

I think that the rest of the world has stepped up pretty well.

There should have been troops IN New Orleans before the levy even broke.

Instead, our good ol' government didn't even recognize the disaster until Thursday PM. FEMA was weak in responding. Bush seemed to be more devastated that Trent Lott lost his house as opposed to the thousands who lost everything but their lives. What a joke.
Spoken like someone who doesn't understand how our government works. Please educate yourself on democracy in this county. The Federal government must respect the sovereignty of each state; therefore they were unable (by the laws of this nation) to send any military aid to the hurricane zone until requested by the government of each state.

Let's see....storm monday, levee breaks Tuesday, State government asks for help on Wednesday, Federal assistance on Thursday. Where's the delay? The response was slow, but the logistics behind the relief effort are rather complicated - expecially when the entire infrastructure needed to help with the distibution of aid was decimated.
