CIA-Agent, I must disagree with you on the 'racism' thing. It has nothing to do with skin color and everything to do with celebrity status. After all, Martha Stewart got sent to the slammer for making a phone call while MJ walked after sleeping with little boys. That's a messed up system!

So I guess you are going to call me racist because I believe that this particular man (Who happens to have been born black) is a sick ***** who deserves to be in prison? You might want to step back and look at the situation with a fresh perspective. When you point the 'racist' finger at me, you have three more fingers on the same hand pointing back at yourself.

The one issue I have not seen addressed here is: just what is reasonable doubt? Obviously, this jury thought that "any doubt" means "reasonable doubt". Whether you believed the mother or not, there was plenty of evidence to convict a less wealthy man. Even though he got off, he is not "innocent" he is just "not guilty"!

Martha got sent to the slammer for lieing, and she has more money than Michael.

Hee-Hee-Hee

Odin & Dave- Man, where do I start...?

OK; say what you want- but yes, you can tell a lot from a phone call. I'll bet if 100 people called me on the phone, I could tell with 85 - 90% accuracy if they were black or white based upon their inflection, vocal tone, word pronounciation, and cadence. I've been working with voice systems, telephones, and listening for darn near twenty years, so- you'll have to believe me when I tell you this- but, if you choose not to- that's fine as well. While it's true that most are more hostile on the phone (safety); they more readily let their hair down than they otherwise would. Can I tell if they were racist or not- no; but I could tell you if they were upset; and clearly- many of those folks were.

Regarding Michael- it wasn't just that incident that made me say that I feel Sean's "caller's" may be racist- it's based upon a number of times that I've tuned in to his show. I think the atmosphere yesterday was just the icing on the cake.
----------------------------

Do I feel a black man can be racist? Yes. I'd tell you why, but- I'm at work right now... But, if you listen to Chris Rock's stand-up, then I'll just say that when he answered that question as to who was more racist- he was accurate..
----------------------------
Rocky- I never called you anything of the sort; and I don't feel that one who disagrees with me is a racist. If I thought that, as many times as 01 XLT Sport and I have but heads, he'd be a Klansman in my book; but- I don't feel that way... I think most of you guys and gals (The regulars) are cool; even if we do disagree.
----------------------------
Scott Petersen: Yep; another case of a man tried on TV. Is he guilty? It'd be the ultimate dupe if he wasn't, based upon how he got painted on TV, but at the end of the day- they had no tangible evidence on him. But, he sits in jail today- convicted on what amounts to circumstantial evidence.
----------------------------

The system is flawed; but it's the best system out there. There are too many variables in motion when you go to trial, and until the verdict is announced, you just don't know how it's going to go down. I'll say this- I would not want to be tried in any other country, or by Courts Martial for that matter- because in those arena's, you're guilty until proven innocent. Until I can derrive a better judicial system; then I'll limit my complaints about it's effectiveness. I'll just end by saying- it's impossible to remove emotion from a trial process, when humans are making the decision; but, things aren't always cut & dry so we can't rely on a computer's binary thinking- so, until there is a medium, it'll have to remain intact.
----------------------------

You got to eat the whole cookie folks- you can't pick the raisins out when they become hard to chew on (innocent until proven guilty being a novelty). I guess I have a hard time believing that Michael Jackson would stoop so low as to molest a child. I can believe that no more than I would believe that Celine Dion did it, Jerry Seinfeld, or any other major celebrity- under the constant scrutiny of cameras and papparazzi, who represent walking ATM machines to many people who would. Mike's a big kid, always has been- the man has never grown up. He lives in what amounts to an amusement park, and invites kids over- hundreds of kids.

Admitedly, Michael has been a joke in America since his head caught fire in that Pepsi commercial in 1983/84. It's been a downhill spiral since then. I have nothing but disdain for the media outlets that refer to him as Jacko or Whacko-Jacko. They've been messing with this guy for years- but, he has given them the material to do so with his surgeries, etc...

In conclusion: OJ. I said OJ looked guilty; I still remember vividly the freeway cruise, and they had OJ's phone conversation on the air. That made him look guilty; that made him sound guilty. Maybe he was guilty. But, people take bad news in different ways too. When my grand-mother died, my mother fell apart screaming & crying, and I went numb for about 4 days, before the first tear fell.

It's human nature to judge, or to "pre-judge", but even the Bible says Judge not, lest ye be judged first. So, that's something we all have to work on. What we need to be able to do, as potential jurors, is to remove our preconceived notions, and make a professional decision, based upon the facts, in a fair and impartial manner... I believe most of us, are capable of doing that- and I think that once the initial aura passes of being near a superstar; we can get down to business.

I would be among the small percentage that would fool you.
Based on how I dress, walk, carry myself and the natural magnetism from women, most everyone assumes I'm a black guy.
I'm always amused at comments I hear when walking thru the mall.

"Hey, that ain't a black guy."
"Are you sure?"
"Well, just look at what color he his."
"Yeah but, look at how he's dressed, and his walk and his carriage and the natural magnetism from the women."

Talking

My teenage daughter won't go the mall with me.

Daughter: "I'm not going to the mall with you like that."

Me: "Word?"

Daughter: "Stop it, dad."

Me: "Word up?"

Daughter: "MOM!"

Me: "Word to your mother?"

it's just for emphasis. As in I'm really enjoying the thread. I also seriously considered adding a 'nanner, but thought it might be taken wrong.

But then again...

edited to add:

as I posted this, "Spirit in the Sky" is playing on the radio and the 'nanner is dancing in perfect time, lol...

regards

It’s not issues he has its opinions, his beliefs, and there is NOTHING wrong with expressing your views/beliefs so long as you don’t post some stupid crap like you did. What’s with the David Duke comment?

David Duke is a freaking moron, a coward, a low life form like terrorist and gang bangers (all races).
