Has anyone began to feel the squeeze on the cost of fuel going up? I heard something about the Oil Cartel wanting to raise the Cost per Barrel to $80.00 sound like a nightmare...
I hear yea... especially when I JUST bought the truck 3 weeks ago. Ugh. Might have to get a 'daily' driver :-(.

Yea, it could get ugly as we approach "the summer driving season" when oil companys historically raise prices due to increased demand. Couple that with short supply and some are already saying we could be looking at $3.00 to $4.00 a gallon come August. But hey, you gotta pay what they are asking or go build your own refinery.
I have already started to drive my wife's sedan (which gets close to 30 mpg) when I am running errands on the weekend. This also has the extra added benefit of extending the time I will have warranty coverage, as I already drive a lot of miles to work and back each day.

Since, I drive about 750 miles a week, yeah, it is going to really put a strain on the budget.
My biggest gripe over the whole gas price increase is lack of public outcry on the situation and the oil companies still having "record" profit years. I have NO problem with the companies makeing money, I don't want them to go into the red because that would cause job losses and cost cutting that would hurt the economy even more. But record years come on, pass some of the benefit to the consumers to keep the economy running more freely.
Second, why does it seem no one gives a rats behind about the increase? I understand that considering inflation gas is still relatively cheap even if it hits 2.75-3. But, the sheeple could still take note and demand better performing vehicles that are more fuel efficient or "conscious" drilling in key locations to wean our dependance on foreign fuel.
I mean take our trucks. Lets say a really conservative estimate that 50% of us use the actual towing capacity that our trucks offer. Alot of us really just want the space, safety, and I hate to admit it but MANLY-NESS of a truck. Of course we wouldn't want a dog slow vehicle, but surely there are some alternative engineering that could increase MPG. I mean the 4.6 gets almost the same as the 5.4??? that makes no sense. If the 4.6 got 25 mpg and was the same price as the 5.4, I would have taken that route. But since it got the same MPG why do it. ( I, in no way am saying that having the 4.6 is bad). It just irks me that the lobbyist have more control than the common man. And also HOW MANY PEOPLE DON"T VOTE.

Just bought an F-150 Screw and if the gas prices REALLY jump up I'll be riding my motorcycles a LOT more and only use the truck for towing my RV.
On a side note, we've all become pretty conditioned to rising gas prices and become desensitized and feel powerless as individuals much less as a collective whole. Whaddayagonnado?

I do enjoy a vehicle thats faster but what I'm hoping is that by choosing the 4.6 I will have less drive train problems in the long run.... if any at all...

My 98 4x4 had the 4.6 amd fuel was still a concern. its 2.11 here today. I agree that something needs to be done. My 05 Has the 37.5 gal tank and already the wife is worried. I dont drive too far and like others use her Focus for errands.

The minister of Saudi Arabia placed a floor for oil at 40 $ per barrel. The problem is not so much opec but China and the rest of the developing nations. They use oil at a tremendous rate. Therefore, they import also and opec is allready pumping to near capacity. The odds of oil reaching 80$ per barrel are pretty good.

Exactly...........................where is the public outrage about fuel prices?? The DC war machine has everyone thinking it's for the good of the country?? Doesn't matter if you agree with Iraq or not, but the fact is bush has everyone hating us.. I think we are doing great at 2 bucks gal,,, could be lots worse...
