drop out feature on control of fog lamps

The NTSHA and the D.O.T know about the ability of having a drop out feature built into the operation of vehicle fog lamps ie.

Fog lamp operation is available from an illuminated on off switch triggered from low beam

In the event operator drives through a fog area and selects fog lamps, on low beam, should the vehicle exit the foggy area
and the operator then choose high beam lamps

Then re selets low beam lamp operation, the drop out feature will not allow the fog lamps to operate unless the driver reselects the fog lamp from the iluminated on/off switch

This prevents the fog lamp switch from being propped to the on position, and causing the fog lamps to operate every time low beam is selected.

is this feature arriving on any vehicles??

BJ

Man I speak Canadian, however you gotta stop smoking the profits.

Let me say this about fogs. On the 2003 and older ford's that I have owened or now own, you could not use the fogs with the high beams and a person had to manually turn the fogs on. Nothing new here.

However on the wife's 2004 navi the fogs can be set to go on automatically with the lows. Of course this is with the US spec vehicles not Canadian Fords with the DRL.

Which brings up another point. I can't fiqure out why people drive around with the fogs on all the time anyhow. But that is for another day.

Personally if I were you, I would have another Molson and call it a day.

Ours are already that way

You cant set the fogs to come on every time the lights come on...

You have to pull the switch out every time

that is not always true. I took my switch out and modified it so the fog lights could and would come on in the automatic possition.

not sure what the question is, but i'm pretty sure all vehicles fog lights go off when high beams are flicked on (b/c u don't use high beams while in fog) and in MOST states it is illegal to drive with ur fog lights on when it is not foggy, just recently they changed this law in IL so u can use the fog lights anytime. the only reason i knew it was a law was b/c my sister-in-law got a ticket for it.

This robert johnson guy has some sort of fog light fetish... You should see some of his ranting, rambling, jumbled up posts in General Discussion.

Doug, I think we should create a Fog Light forum and make robert johnson moderator of it. Plus make it that he can only post in there.

If the fogs are in the on position with low beams the fogs stay on when you pull back on the turn signal indicator to activate the high beams. Large amount of light if you think you see a deer or other critter up ahead or coming out of the berm, which is handy. I'm sure most of you are aware of this, however.

Really, I just want $10 worth of what this Johnson guy is smoking. It's been a long week.

drop out feature for fog lamps

many thanks for the comments, This possible option being discussed

Prevents the fog lamps from coming on every time low beam is selected

it allows low beam and allows fog lamps to be selected with low beam

But when hi beam is selected the fog lamps extinguish

and fog lamps will not come on automatically when low beam is selected again

without the manual selection of the fog lamp switch,

Many units we meet on clear nights that have fog lamps lit

are because the fog lamps default to on each time low beam is selected ( because the switch is toggled or propped )
have a really nice week

I run 200,000 candle powered fog lamps. This not only makes it easier to see in the fog it actually burns off the fog, dries the road for safety and promotes growth in the general area (warmth from the candle powered fogs helps grass, trees and flowers to grow)

Just doing my part for safety and a beautiful environment…

Oh, and when the idiot driving in the opposite direction does not shut off his brights when I flash him I simple turn the fog lamps on and permanently blind him…
