drop out feature on control of fog lamps

So many wonderful people have read and commented on this posting thanks very much for the discussion

Would you please take a moment and read and use the survey below as you see fit in future discussions of vehicle lighting

Selecting a vehicle for night time driving, and a unit that will allow the owner/ Driver to be able to respect the eyes of the oncoming motorists

Questions that are answered in the 5 point rating area
provide an area of discussions, of % of vehicle lighting safety standards you do the math
---------------------------------
( think a lot about question # 6 when doing the survey)

1, Is the vehicle equipped with daytime running lamps? yes------- 5 no-------

2, do the Daytime running lamps operate in the low beam circuit? yes--------5 no-------

3, do the daytime running lamps operate at aprox 60% reduced brillance? yes--------5 no-------

4, do the Daytime running lamps extinguish with park brake applied ? yes-------5 no-------

5, If the answers to # 2 and # 3 is no, are there 2 additional lamps installed to operate the Daytime running lamp function ? yes----5 no----

6, Do the 2 additional Daytime running lamps extinguish at night time? yes------5 no------

7, are there fog lamps supplied on the unit? yes------5 no------

8, is there a illuminated on/off switch supplied so the fog lamps can be shut off
when the weather is clear and to respect the eyes of oncomong drivers? yes------5 no------

9, can the fog lamps operate alone with the park lamps, tail lamps and
marker lamps? (advantage in heavy fog) yes------5 no---------

10, Can the fog lamps operate with low beam operations? yes-----5 no--------

11, are the fog lamps switch restricted so that they cannot operate on high beam lamp operation yes-----5 no-----

12, Is there a drop out feature in the fog lamp operation so that
when fog lamps are selected on low beam
and then driver selects high beam the fog lamps will not operate when low beam is selected again ( unless )
the illuminated fog lamp switch is manually activated ( stops default to on ) yes----5 No-------

13, Are additional driving lamps supplied on unit? ( personal choice) yes----- no------

14, is there an illuminated on/off switch supplied so these can be shut off ? yes----5 no------

15, are the driving lamps switch restricted to operate solely
with high beam lamps yes----5 no-----

16, are there more than 2 parking lamps supplied on the front of unit yes---- no-------

17, if more than 2 park lamps are supplied, are the 2 additional park lamps equipped with park lamps bulbs that do not exceed the national standard of 2 candlepower per lamp yes----5 -no---------

Total score -----yes-- --------no-

Have a nice weekend and have a safe drive

I think...

I think I understand.

(living is Seattle, so I must be downwind of him)

The original post was asking(I think):

Do Lightnings (or any Ford product) have a feature that automatically turns off the fog lights when you turn on your high beams?

My solution is Sylvania Xenarcs and 9005 HIDs in the fogs. Bright enough for any situation.

Please stop this thread now. It belongs in it's own catagory or at least in general discussion.

Mr Johnson,

Some past experience must have casued you to embark on this crusade. Your type created ways of turning off offending lighting by incorporating little gadgets in the OEM lighting systems that do so. Becasue of your type I had to rewire my lighting system to turn off the !"/$%?&8ing DRLs and fix the |!"/$%?&ing switch that doesn't allow me to on my fog lights and have them stay on when Ii so choose. A better effort would be spent inventing a hand that comes out of the dash and smacks you in the face when you don't use your turn signal and another one to smack you when you leave it on after you are done with it.

Drive safe.

Thanks for the comments, However before any changes are made to vehicles lighting system a number of things must be considered

1, DRL is a canadian standard, we use the DRL1 built here in our location.??

2. What are the provincial laws??

3, Will the work be completed by a qualified mechanic who is licensed in the province and knows the regulations pertinant to
the province that he or she is licensed in.??

4, Will the repairs be approved by the Vehicle inspection Branch of the province??

These folks are trained in the field and will do only the work that will pass regulations and or and O.E.M. requirements
