Keep up the good work everyone!
Thanks folks. I took measurements last night (since I forgot Monday) & I've lost another 1/2 inch off my hips (big problem area). Thats a total of 6 lbs & 1 inch of my hips!
I just keep reminding myself that as the weather warms up I'll be able to get outside with the kids more & maybe increase the pace of loss a bit.
I got no problem taking it slow since my plan was to hit my goal weight by this time NEXT year.

Congratulation on everyone losing!
I'm in a similar boat at the moment. I've never tipped the scales like this (265 lbs), not only that but I'm a struggling weakling. Two years ago I was in the best shape of my life, 230 lbs with a 405 lb benchpress. I was running on a regular basis and lifting 3 times a week. Since meeting my current girlfriend, I've spent my time with her rather than the gym.
I'm now on a quest. Back to my "fighting weight". And by using the methods described here. Sensible eating habits (thats a challenge for me) and back to the gym!

I'm 6' 5" at 237 right now. I was 300. I fought my weight issues since I was young. I got down to 186 once. Too skinny for my frame. I feel 225 is just right. I'm watching my food intake again because I went up to 245. It's a never ending battle. Stay strong everyone. Just understand you lose sometimes but don't accept defeat. Keep fighting. I go to the gym at least 4 times a week and run as well. DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!! I tell myself that all the time. BTW I'm almost 34. It's getting harding to lose the pounds but if you really want to you can.
I ran across this site today and so far it's the most "complete" nutritional database I've seen as far as Fast Foods and Restaurants go. They have menus for just about any chain you can think of. I was surprised (and saddened) to see how many calories The Lone Star's grilled pork chops are (1400 for 16oz!!!!!!). Next time I'll know to go with the chicken
The "University" tab at the top has a 13 week program that appears really sensible and useful for dropping those unwanted pounds as well.

Well gals to celebrate hitting the 200 mark (& the fact that we had a little extra money) we decided to get a new scale. Rob is always complaining about the one we had (a cheapo fish shaped one we got when me got married 5 years ago. Well we picked out a decent priced digital one yesterday. I tried it out & everything & it says I weigh.......

Man, I think I just lost a couple pounds reading this thread from start to finish. I may have missed a detail or two but I get the gist.
I'm sorry, I don't qualify. I'm not a fat b@stard. I'm actually the other extreme. I don't eat when I'm stressed, and there has been a lot of stress.
I wanted to add my two cents because I have witnessed my girl go through some major changes in the past five years. When we moved in together she weighed around 128. She had quit her factory job to go back to college, to have a better future. School was stressful and perhaps us living together for the first time may have also had an effect. She put on about 60lbs in a year. I tried to help, because I could see what was happening (in slow motion) but sometimes that kind of intervention only makes things worse. It made things tough, for her, and for us. For a year she struggled, and we struggled together. Then she reached a point where she wasn't going to deal with the extra pounds any more.
She had been going to the gym and was generally active before we "shacked up", so she knew what she had to do to lose thoes pounds. And she did. Slowly and methodically. She was aware of all the diets and what not out there and decided to educate herself so that instead of looking for that quick fix, she was doing the things that her body would respond most favorably to. It has worked very well.
It's been a few years now. She isn't at her goal weight, but she is quite fit. She exercises just like the rest of you, sometimes not wanting to go. She is committed to eating healthy all the time, with the allowance of that occasional indulgence. I give her a ton of credit, not just for being able to lose the weight but to make the commitment to be healthy.
So, I would like to send my encouragement on to all you folks. I know it's hard. But it can be done. I've seen it happen right before my eyes.
jamzwayne mentioned the movie Super Size Me. I would highly reccomend everyone see it, whether you think you need to lose weight or not. It's a reminder that fast food is not good for us, especially on a regular basis. Also, if you like to read, my girl read Fast Food Nation (I don't like to read unless it's a car mag) and read many parts to me. It's an education about some things we might not even want to know, but will help us make better food choices.
I also want to mention a couple things to look for in the foods you eat. Anything partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats) and any fractionated palm oil products. I have had these terms drilled into my head by my girl. These ingredients are in so many different foods. I eat a lot of food with either in it. It's not good though, especially regularly and in larger amounts.
Well I've taken up enough space in this thread that I really don't belong in.
Good luck!

The vacation was not good to me (nor did I attempt to be good). 6 days of eating good southern' cookin & binge drinking with little to no activity (bowling was the most excersie I got) resulted in an extra 5lbs to my waist. Back to 315 for me! My back is killing me, so gym is a no-no this week. May ride the bike at home, since that should be OK for the back.
witton - great post. I remember when I was huge, lost it all (60-70lbs), then gain it back after some stressful events and lifestyle change. Now the struggle to lose it again, and hopefully keep it off. I'll have to check out that FF Nation book. The body-for-life book by Bill Philips is also a good read. Good info in there.
Until next week kids!
