Id say its bringing out the truth in everyone. If that just happens to be the worst then so be it.

With all due respect to our colleagues from other countries, even those on the same continent as ours, and our staunchest allies from across the Atlantic, this election is about what is best for America, not the rest of the world. This election is about far more than who will do what with regard to Iraq and foreign policy, There are numerous domestic issues on the table as well. I realize that citizens of other countries see this as based entirely upon foreign policy and international relations, but we have far more at stake in this election. I'm sure many people in many different countries have opinions about who and what is best for America but to me they mean nothing. We as Americans need to do what we think is best for our country and worry about the rest of the world later. I happen to think that there is an increasing disparity between what is good for the rest of the world and what is good for America. If it what is good for America screws over the rest of the world, then so be it, they don't care abut my country so why should I care about theirs. I posted a thread a few days ago about an effort by the UK's Guardian newspaper to influence the vote in a swing county in the swing state of Ohio, that was completely inappropriate and this is too. Name-calling and insults are not necessary, but politely, we don't tell anyone which members of parliament to vote for, so please extend us the same courtesy. We are all well aware of what is at stake both at home and abroad in this election. If it turns our that the candidate that is most palatable to the rest of the world gets elected, well then that’s all well and good, but rest assured that it is b/c that’s who Americans wanted in office, should the opposite occur, it is for the same reason and you’ll just have to deal with it. I won’t tell anyone how to vote but I will say that only a fool would vote for a candidate b/c someone else told them to do so, be it a celebrity, their union, a political talking head, a newspaper, or someone from another country.

Whoa chill. Just because someone is not from this country doesn't mean they don't have anything to say or can't make any valid points
I think the Limey is trying to influence an election. I made some calls too.

fredc51,

With all due respect your very existence is dependant on the United States of America. If it was not for OUR brave country and OUR brave soldiers you would not have the freedom you so selfishly enjoy along with those other countries that freely mouth off against America but under their breath and behind closed doors wish so badly they too could be just like America.

Your views are respected and have been heard, however there is NO reason for America to be asking for any help from your side of the pond on getting out of Iraq. America will leave Iraq when the mission has been accomplished “correctly” which means the Iraq people will have an election to freely choose those running their country and once their military and police forces have been trained so they can take over their own security then American and British forces will leave.

There is NO reason to ask any of the other weak nations for help since they refused to help for their own selfish reason, specifically France (the biggest wuss’s in the world) and Germany. For those nations Iraq was COMPLETELY about the oil and MONEY.

Why would anyone ask someone to help them when they were refused the help to begin with? It just doesn’t make any logical sense. We asked and the weak nations took the coward route so let them remain the cowards they truly are and besides that how could they help to begin with? It’s not like they have anyone brave enough to actually pick up a firearm and stand the watch in Iraq, is it? I think not so while the offer for help “sounds” good it’s a hollow offer because there is nothing of substance to back it up, typical Europe, talk the talk but can’t walk the walk…

My friend World War III started on 9/11/01 and it will end when America says it will end therefore the rest of the world can either assist, stand by our side, follow, or get the hell out of the way while America leads, yet again, another world crisis that other countries, other then Britain, are not, nor have ever been capable of solving or ending with out the direct assistance of America and our good friends, brave friends, from Britain.

While I respect you right to freely voice your opinion I would ask that you remember who made it possible for you to have that freedom, I would ask that you remember who continues to insure your right to voice your opinion, I would ask that you thank the brave soldiers, past and present, from the United States Military, the biggest, baddest military man has ever known…

God bless America and our military, for without them neither Europe or America would be free nations…

I never realised that my plea for world peace would bring out the vitriol that it did.

It saddens me that most of you guys just want to go out there and kick ***. Well don't get pissed off when someone hits back. 911 was on of the worst things that happened in this world after the A bombs of WWII.

If you feel that this election is for the USA, why don't you just stay in your country and disaapear up you own *******s!!

WMD, yeah you know they're there because you sold them to Saddam. Osama bin Laden was a freind to the USA, when Reagan was in power. If you dont want to worry about the rest of the world stay out of it.

And remember, you didn't come into WWII to help out us liberal Europeans, you came in to WWII because of Pearl Harbour.

I'd rather have dinner with a Frenchman or German than a Yank like some of you guys, because at least we could talk about things rather than get your opinions rammed down our throats.

I hope you get the man you vote for, you deserve it!!!! You load of *******!!!

That is the problem, we worry about everyone else too much. Screw the rest of the world. America is in some tough times, we need to stop caring about the rest of the world and focus on us. I dont give a damn about some starving kids in Ethiopia that the US is sending millions of dollars for. I dont care about rebuilding Iraq so its a perfect society. I dont care about the UN or its hippie bull. America should be Americas top concern.

Guys, its election day. Lets go flush some Johns. Ive seen lots of kids wearing shirts that say "Hes not my president" with a picture of Bush on it. Well I just got a shirt that says "Hes STILL my President". Its time to kick their *** and take their gas (stolen off a bumper sticker).

How can anyone vote for the draft dodger George jr.? He joined the National Guard( commendable, yes) but he joined to avoid going to Vietnam. Anyone who wanted to avoid going to Vietnam tried to join the National Guard but only those who "knew someone" could get in. I tried but I am just a lowly citizen without influence. My dad was a truck driver so he had no influence with anyone. I got drafted and was sent to VietNam. I had the same feelings as Kerry that we needed to be out of VietNam. I did not go to Congress and tell them my thoughts but I felt the same way.

The biggest difference between VietNam and Iraq is that, although many people don't believe we should be in Iraq, they still support the troops. A VietNam vet was treated as an outcast when he returned home. A VietNam Vet was not something you aspired to be.

I gotta vote for Kerry.

Thanks for listening.

It was a character of Kurt Vonnegut's who said that choosing to use foul language was a symptom of limited vocabulary... hmmm....

Abroad, though there are many that like Americans, there are just as many who find us foul-mouthed, rude and arrogant. I couldn't imagine why...

Chances are there are very few who would actually change their vote due to foreign opinion, and if they were so inclined, they would already have done so. The only reason I'm voting for Bush is because Kerry actually scares me MORE than Bush does, which is a sad thing to consider. Honestly I believe neither candidate could at this point or even within the next six months unilaterally pull out of Iraq. That would actually create more problems than it would solve. At this point we're stuck there to help rebuild, for better or worse, and most Americans should have realized this wasn't going to be a thirty-day thing going into it. If they didn't they were naive, uninformed or possibly even choosing to be ignorant.

Some of what I've read in these posts, however, frightens me. This country learned at the beginning of the LAST century that we cannot be an island. We function in a global economy and have been interdependent with other countries since our founding, like it or not. We need them to purchase our products and we need to purchase theirs. Our standard of living would decrease dramatically if we were to suddenly close up shop and tell everyone to take a hike.

These are just some observations from an uneducated hillbilly. You can take them for what you will. Please, get out and vote your conscience. May the best candidate (or the least damaging?) win.
