I just made the appointment for my wisdom tooth to come out and when I spoke to the lady she says my insurance won't cover being put all the way under . If I pay for it myself it's $120 . This news makes me, understandably, apprehensive. Should I fork out the dough or can I do it with just a local?? It's only one tooth and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain..
Hey wmr, as long as you don't mind the actual sound of the tooth being pulled, go for a local. If you get weak kneed at the sight of blood, go for full anesthesia. I too have a high tolerance for pain. All 4 of my wisdom's erupted ( crowned through the gum, then broke due to pressure from the other teeth) within 3 days. My dentist was nice enough to take me in the following day to yank 'em. Went with locals, but the sound of a tooth (teeth) being pulled is something you can live w/o.
Good luck!
