Talking

Don't be such a baby, I've had like 36 teeth pulled.

Heck you're from Kentucky, the average in that State must be like 20 or 25.

It's the truth, I'm not just fllapping my gums!

RP, don't worry about Habibi's story... They have socialized medicine up there, don't they?

RockPick,

I had mine pulled about 15 years ago. Had to go to a specialist and when I sat down in the chair he informed me that he was going to pull 2 today and see how it went. If all went well, he'd pull the other two later. I informed him that he was going to pull all 4 that day since if the first 2 went bad, I'd never come back.

OK, so he pulls all 4 with only Novacane. Only two of them broke into pieces and only one had roots that extended much past my *********. As I grab my helmet to leave (yes, I rode my Suzuki 1000), the receptionist informs me that I really shouldn't be riding with that much pain killer in my system. I rode home anyway. (I think it was a really smooth ride.)

To make a long story short, I went out drinking with the boys that very same night and never had any pain or problems with the entire procedure - other than where he was standing on my chest with the jack hammer. Hope yours goes as well. Remember, it's all in the mental attitude.

I suggest you use everyones favorite herbal anti-nausea pain reliever.
Oops, maybe not. Don't want you getting the munchies and hurting yourself from eating to much.

Good luck with your operation. I've had three of the four removed and had no problems at all. A salt water gargle and rinse several times a day is the best solution.

This is officially my last 'wise' post to this thread. As of this time tomorrow, if I feel up to it, I'll post back and be officially 'unwise'.

Wish me luck.

One last word of caution (I don't know if you saw it in the last wisdom tooth thread)...

Don't wake up with a chubby! They told me to wear something comfortable, so I wore sweatpants/running pants and when I woke up, I was at full attention. I little embarassing, but the nurse winked at me!

...maybe that was the IV wearing off?!

Habibi, you wuss.

Okay, so I didn't end up having all four out. Actually, the surgon opted to only remove the one that was giving me the pain as I have advanced decay in another molar that needs to be dealt with (aka: drilled) prior to dealing with the others (both from a professional standpoint as well as a insurance standpoint).

So, as of this moment, I'm only 25% less wise.

I swear I thought the guy was trying to reach down my throat with a clinched fist when he was pulling the one. Local anesthia wasn't too bad but the shot hurt in the roof of my mouth.... yeah, I know, that sounds like a panzy but it did.

All is well. I haven't even taken any of the Loratab (sp) as I have little to NO pain. I'm in VERY good shape.

Thanks folks!

I'm in good shape with only a very dull sore pain this morning (as I think it was from the stretching of my mouth). All is well in RP land!

So, I just finished up with the first half of a root canal today and was told that I'd probably end up having to have another one on the other side of my mouth. Mind you, I still have to have the other three wisdom teeth extracted (late Aug)....

They'll complete the root canal on Monday and crown on Tuesday. Then, later next month, I go back to have the other one taken care of...

It's really strange, I had two large cavities and NO other small ones that she could chart. Even she said that I was an oddity because, when cavities of this size were present, she almost always charted numerous other small cavities. Not for me though... I'm odd.

Argh...

And to think that I'm religious about brushing my teeth and flossing.... sure doesn't seem like I've done a good job...

Back to the Lortab -- which doesn't work all that well for me.

Moral: go to the dentist frequently so that problems of this nature don't have the opportunity to develop.... this is NO fun.
