Very good, you did well. You answered the question which means you know that you NEED food and water to survive. That is ALL Terri needs. So if we can not take it away from you then why should anyone be allowed to take it away from her?

Oh, and there is a God, no need for me to prove it because I myself can not prove it to you. It’s called faith, some have it some don’t.

Very good point 01 XLT Sport & very well put! Yes - ALL Terri needs is food & water & compassion. And you're right too about God - He doesn't need to be proved so that why we can't.
mxhotshot - YOU prove there ISN'T a God & I'll stop believing in Him! YOU CAN'T! And neither would I stop believing in God. But I will pray for you. You can't stop me.

Glad to see there are a few more of us left on earth that still believe in letting already living people live! I don't like to see people giving out death wishs to anybody who isn't as strong as they are

mxhotshot, can you prove you have a brain? Got any picture proof? well??? Yeah, I knew you couldn't.

The LORD giveth, and the LORD taketh away.

God uses other people to do his will, in this case it just so happened he used Jeb Bush to keep her living (at least for the time being.) and has once again let her Arrogant money loving crook husband see that his evil schemes can be thwarted by just a simple word from him.

And also, the dude (don't remember his name) is gonna go straight to hell and perish in the lake of fire waiting for him, unless he repents and is saved before he dies. (which he should have the death sentence on him for attempted murder by starvation of a living human).

I'm sure he'd be real happy to have his food supply cut off, right? naw, he needs food to live, just like everyone does, even his wife needs food to live.

It's pretty obvious what he's after... it's money. greed...... Money makes men do many evil deeds, it's pretty blatently obvious that he's after the money in this case too.

--------
You who want to see this living human being perish by starvation:
Who gave you the right to kill another human being(clarification: This is not in a war, this is not self defense, she didn't do anything to him that she should be murdered for.)

Think about it... will you????

Interesting how this went from the legalities of what life is to does God exist. I, having grown up a strong Christian, have lately found myself wondering why should I worship a God I first have to have faith in his existance to be able to worship him...

Talk about lost... I'm the poster child...

*****this is in no way pushing anyone's buttons, but is just a random statement*********

People that are raised in church, do they really believe what they think or are they just going by what they have been tought? Lets take it out of religion. Do you believe 2+2=4? Why do you believe that? (ok, no math majors can reply) You have been tought that your entire life and thats what you believe. Guess I'm just trying to figure out how one really goes about picking a religion. Do they pull out a magazine and point to one and say "thats my religion"

Ok, that prolly made no sence what so ever. Just trying to figure out I guess why people are what they are.

It still relates to the age old question,,,,,,,,Why is thier something instead of nothing?

Valid question, Phillip. I don't have a hard time believing in God, I do believe in God, but this is the part that I have a hard time with. Ask any reverend of any denomination (Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Pentocostal, Presbyterian, Mormon, etc...) why they became a preacher, and they'll all have the same answer, being `Because God called me to be.` Why would God call so many different people to be so many different things? Seems like God wouldn't worry with details like that, and if God had really called them, then they would be ministers of God, not of any certain denomination of faith. For the love of Pete, there have been WARS fought over stained-glass windows and alter-rails in the churches before, and no one will ever make me believe that God wanted that. Also, about the math. It's logical reason that can be shown and carried out physically. Let's say that you see two rocks. When you have two more with them, this is four rocks. Four is the name designated for ther amount of rocks, and if you add 2 rocks plus 2 more rocks, then you have four. That's concrete, nothing changes that. The whole religion, ANY religion is based on faith. If you had proof of God, then there would be no need for faith, and the entire basis of the religion would be gone, so there would effectively be no religion, everyone would just know automatically. That's why certain people get into heaven and some don't, because you must have faith to get there, and if there was concrete proof, then everyone would follow God, and it was never God's intention for everyone to pass his test. If it was, then he would have never tested us, he would have just left us in heaven in the first place, without ever sending us to Earth. God gave all humans free will, and the ones that choose God's way go with him, and the ones that don't, well, don't. I don't understand this, though. If God wanted her to live, then why is she even in this situation in the first place? I know he could have prevented it, he's God. Is this woman's situation God's test for her husband? Highly doubted, because if God loves everyone the same, then he wouldn't use her just to see what her husband would do. I think that if she has money there to cover medical expenses, then let her live. She's alive, it isn't affecting me one way or the other, she damn sure isn't hurting anyone, and she's been through enough. Let the woman eat, drink and rest. If she runs out of money, I would never complain that my tax dollars were keeping her alive. Nice to see a post from you, Cowlady, I have missed you. What's even rarer is that you and ATST posted back to back, and that's something that used to happen all the dang time, but this is the first time I've seen it since I don't know how long! As far as survival of the fittest, well, this is 21st century America, and strength really has nothing to do with how well you should live. It just doesn't play a major role anymore, except for sports, and that is recreation, not survival. I agree with 01 XLT Sport, Terri must have a super-nice Dad. I really do wonder why God would even let it get to that point, though.
mxhotshot, Yoda has done nothing to you, so let's leave the master out of it, shall we? No need in dragging his name into it.

Thanks PickupMan!

Hi PickupMan! Good to see you again too! I still hang around here - check it everyday - I just don't have as much time online as I used to.
I agree with you - the things that happen are mostly a result of OUR actions & OUR free will. I think God does "call" many to serve Him because He feels they can reach those who most NEED to hear His word. Of course there are some who do it for private gain - some of them get arrested for their actions too!
As for why this happened to Terri - all I can think of is MAYBE medicine will learn something from her case which can benefit others, as was the case of little Jimmy that I posted earlier. He should NEVER have lived so long on a ventilator - those machines cause scarring in the lungs & eventually the scar tissue prevents the lungs from expanding/contracting even with artificial assistance. He sure taught the doctors a lot about kids in his position - he's probably saved a life or 2! Do I think it's fair for someone to sacrifice their life to save another's? I don't know. I do know that most of us - myself included, go thru life & never get the chance to really touch a life or save 1 so I guess that people like Jimmy & Terri are special & we should TREASURE them - not kill them off. As I also stated we show more compassion for convicted criminals & execute them humanely - we don't starve them to death & the very idea of doing that is unconscionable! Civil rights advocates would SCREAM OUT in protest! I wonder why they aren't doing so now for Terri? Even if she wanted to die why aren't they standing up for that? Either way they are ignoring this case - too "sensitive" for their delicate tastes I guess.
I hope that Terri is safe now & her "husband/would be killer" is removed as her "guardian" & her parents are given that honor instead. After all - they brought her into this world, raised her & love her more than he does. Heck - perfect strangers appear to love her more than Mikey does. He needs to get a boot in the butt & be told to move on his way & not look back. And he should be made to pay back EVERY PENNY he got from this tragic event - let's see if his g/f still loves him when he loses the fortune he got from his wife's misfortune!!! Bet she dumps him!

I live fairly local to this circus. Here are my thoughts on this.

If I remember right, she had the heart attack in 1990, I don't think this issue came up until 2000 or 01, about ten years later. I think he probably spent at least some of the money on health care by then, in fact I remember seeing something on the news about it running out within a few years. I also think that the 300,000 he received should have been for him for his loss and to help with whatever family income was lost from her condition. The 750,000 was clearly for her care. I am not defending the guy but it must have been hard for him, he didn't ask for this. I don't know if I could watch my wife go through this.

When they say brain dead, they refer to the brain scans that show damage to the part of her brain that make us people. I have seen a lot of footage of her on TV. It does seem like she has reflex actions but not much else. I wouldn't want to live that way, if she is alive, as some here believe, it is a shame she can't make her own decision.

I guess the only fair thing to do is to use up the 750,000 to prove or disprove the treatment options, then if Mr. Shaivo wants out, let him out and let the family carry her.

Remember, none of us have been there first hand to see the suffering and misery of all parties involved. This has been going on for over a decade now. I don't think we can fully understand how any of them feel. Some of us are 3000 miles away saying "she is alive" according to TV reports. Who knows what you may feel in the same room with her.

This is a strange set of circumstances altogether. There doesn't seem to be a potential happy ending no matter what.

Hey Phillip!

This is for phillipSVT - my own faith experience as an answer to his question. Of course I cannot speak for anyone BUT myself.
I'm Catholic. Born & raised. At the age of 16, in an act of defiance against the nuns from grade school & to rebel against my parents I stopped going to Church. I just quit. I still believed in God - I just thought I could do a better job of mamaging my own life, thank you very much God! After all - HE wasn't in my shoes - I was!
For nearly 25 years I stayed away from Church. I muddled thru - had good times & bad. I existed.
Flash forward now - I'm in a physically abusive relationship. I'm disappointed that God isn't answering my pleas for help in turning my then fiance around to what I want/need him to be.
May of 1996 - I am FORCED to attend an 40th Anniversary Mass for my fiances cousin who is a priest. I'm listening to him speak about what it means to him to be a priest & BAM! It hit me! Like a ton of bricks it dawned on me that here was a man who devoted his life to God 24/7 for 40 years & I wasn't even giving 45 MINUTES/WEEK! I thought about that all week & the next Sun I went to Mass - ALL ON MY OWN WITHOUT BEING DRAGGED THERE! LOL! I kept going but now it was different - now I WANTED to be there. Oct 1996 I tossed my fiance out. And, depsite his promises of killing me I lived! I didn't even get beaten up - again!
I've been going to Mass ever since. I have Ushered & am a Lector & Eucharistic Minister & I love being back to Church. I WANT to be there. I find I can now cope with the problems of life & I'm not alone anymore.
I don't have a problem with the "rules" of any organized faith. I look at it this way - we choose to obey rules everyday in many ways - why is religion any different?
We obey traffic rules - civil rules - work rules. We even "obey" rules for recreation. If we want to belong to a club or website or a sports team we HAVE to obey the rules right? And we do that w/o objection for the most part. Many times we have to PAY to belong! We want membership & pay the price of following the terms the owners set forth or we have to quit. I CHOOSE to follow the rules of the Catholic faith - it works for me!
As for faith - we have it EVERYDAY for silly things - favorite sports team, appliance brand, store, website - BRAND OF TRUCK! We put our "faith" in these things even when we get let down like the Bills & Sabres & Cubs & Red Sox yet we do NOT abandon them! We stick to our guns, we support & defend w/o question & we are PROUD of our affiliatons. So - consider me a team member of the oldest Christian faith on Earth - a PROUD, steadfast member who is willing to obey the rules in order to belong & to go the distance too. I still struggle - my life is not perfect but now I have help - from Him. I know I'll be ok because He is with me all the time.
I don't know if this will help explain faith in general but it does explain my own personal faith, which I am happy to share.
And yes phillipSVT - I pray for you too! I got ya covered - at least till you take over for yourself! LOL! BTW - are you studying?

Hi seacrow! How are you? Nice to see you again! How's the truck?
You raised some very valid points & very intelligently. I agree - unless we're in their situation we just don't know what it's like for all involved.
My concern is that people who do recover from states like this report they HEARD EVERYTHING going on around them. How scary it must be to not be able to respond!
If Terri can hear & feel she must be terrified. I pray she realizes she's loved.
This is not a simple situation by any means. It's not something that can be undone if the outcome isn't good. Denying her food & water WILL kill her - it's not as though it's plastic surgery - if you don't like the results find another doctor & re-do the procedure. Taking away food/water is not right & there'd be no going back.
If she's lived this long w/o artificial assistance then there's a reason - I'm sure of it. As I said - maybe thye will learn from her case & prevent another person from slipping into her condition. She may save lives someday - not just existences.

Cowlady,
I'm not trying to be hateful or mean or anything else, just express my views... but I don't agree with your comparison on faith. Having faith in a baseball teams abilitie's is nothing like faith in God. I can have faith in say the Cubs knowing full well that they exist, they are there, they are a baseball team. I first have to believe that God exists before I can have faith in his abilities. That's what's bothering me. There is absolutely no physical proof that God exists. I want more than anything to see physical proof, to actually meet God face to face. I don't think that's an arrogant statement. I think it's a lost soul looking for reason in a world where there really isn't any...

Hi closer9! I welcome your response - never would I have felt it hateful or mean!
My analogy of having faith in a team is poor at best but it was meant to illustrate how I approcah my own faith. Even when our teams disappont us or when out trucks let us down we pretty much just bear with it - we don't turn around & choose someone/something else. We give people & things the benefit of the doubt. We still place our trust & hopes in them to come thru in the future. We don't just walk away! Yet we do that with our own faith! Many Catholics are "cafeteria Catholics" - picking & choosing what they WANT to follow & discarding the rest. I WAS that way too. My life was in shambles! I finally realized I had to either be on board ALL the way or get off ALL the way. I chose to get on board & I have NEVER been happier with a choice I made - not even in choosing my truck! You KNOW how I love Fearless! LOL!
I can't prove beyond the shadow of any doubt that God exists because all of us are looking for a physical presence as you said. He is spiritual - not in a form ANY of us - myself included would understand. He is - that's as best as I can describe my own understanding of Him.
I know there are things that ONLY God could do like create life! Science will never be able to create a sperm or an egg FROM SCRATCH - we can alter or modify or clone them but we cannot create them. We can't explain that along with myriad other things in the "natural" realm yet we don't question that it takes an egg & sperm to start the process of life.
I can relate to the feeling of being a lost soul as I was for 25+ years. My only suggestion is to try going to different services & just listen - don't participate but get a feel for what their beliefs are. Ask questions - listen closely. Find out the different views of different faiths. You'll be surprised by the similarities & differences! Who'd have thunk it!
All I'm suggesting is TRY looking for faith - for God. He'll help you find him so you won't feel lost. Once you are "found" you'll feel incredible! If, after looking you still can't find what you need at least you TRIED. Tha's pretty much all He asks - is that we try.
Email me anytime if you want. I won't preach but I'll be happy to answer any of your questions as candidly as I post here.
Good luck closer9 - I'll pray for you & that is also not meant to offend. I pray for everyone I care about!
BTW - we all have a purpose here & finding it is a reward in itself. I still don't know what mine is - when I find out I'll post it so everyone knows! LOL! As for yours - just keep looking!

I see Cowlady has dominated this thread

I just want to say, Cowlady, that I admire this statement. It's too bad that more "religious" believers don't have this point of view. That's the way I feel about my situation. I can't force myself to believe in something that in my heart I can't. That's just me, but like you said, it works for me. I'm a truth seeker not a follower. As yet I have not found what I believe to be totally true. Not being from a hardcore faith like Catholocism I will probably never covet a religion or it's beliefs, but I digress. My point being that it's too bad there are so many people in this world that believe that there is only ONE way to be and they will kill over that "fact".

To all those reading and posting here, don't sweat it when somebody posts about God and praying for you. Hey, they might be right, and if they are wrong it's not gonna hurt you either way. If someone jumps on you and threatens you to belive thier way, then by all means, let em have it. If someone only tells you that you are wrong, then just shrug it off. Unless of course you are looking for a good long debate

My message: Be true to yourself, and do good by others.
