I'm sure a lot of people feel that way when they "come out" jaymz. I am touched by your courage, and am glad that you think enough of all of us here to share your sexuality.
Keep reaching for that rainbow!

Talking

I see Raoul is in rare form today!

I wish, however, that God would reach out and smite him for misspelling "miracle."

And as a Lightning owner, I don't have to worry about Raoul "pulling the plug." They pull themselves.

No, he's in the same form he always is. Well, he's "half the man he used to be", but that's just because of that chainsaw accident.

Gosh, wasn't aware of his accident. Perhaps God will restore his maleness with just one word.

Nah it is when you label people "****'s" and "Whacko's" while being totaly ignorant on the topic discussed that you become an ***.

I think you're trying to make a joke of the whole thing jamyz, it's not a joke, this is real life. One day you'll meet your maker and find out that the "religous wackos" aren't wackos at all. We're real humans.

And also, why don't you put yourself in her shoes and walk a mile?

God has everything planned out that will happen from the very beginning, if he decides to wait 30 years till he heals her, so be it.

And Raoul, you're also making a joke of it... It's not a laughing matter.

I don't want to get involved with the childish name calling here, and I'm not going to voice my opinion either way, but just to throw something out here for you. There was a man here in AR a few months ago who woke of from a coma after 19 years. He may not be able to drive a Supercharged F150 or call people names, but he's alive, and I'm sure after seeing his 19 year old daughter after 19 years he's glad they didn't pull the pug.

Yes Sir, that's the kind of life I'd want. Sticking my spouse or the public with the medical bills; hanging around like a vegetable so my spouse can't move on and have a life of her own.

You religious wackos kill me!
Well, first I want to say that I support this case and what has happened. I want to say also that I am not a religous wacko. Hell, I don't believe in the bible or that Jesus was anything other than just a "man with a plan". Why do I support giving Terri Shaivo another chance then? Because after seeing and reading a lot about the case I don't think she is a true vegetable. Because after so many years her husband has refused to give anyone sufficient chance to try and figure out what is left of her.

I was listening to Glenn Beck a couple days ago and he brought up a great point. There is a scientist, I don't remember his name, that I personally have seen on shows about astronomy and how our universe works. He is by some defenitions a vegetable. He can't talk, he can't move, and he drools on himself regularly. In fact, he sat next to then President Bill Clinton during some awards ceremony and drooled all over himself. This guy is known as one of the best minds on the planet. He only communicates using his eyeball and a computer sensor. Now, should we stop feeding him? He can't do it himself. He can't do anything himself, except look at a computer screen and type with his eyeball.

Now, has Terri Shiavo been given this chance? She can do a ehck of a lot more than mover her eyeball. There are all kinds of frontiers in research to try and help mentally disabled people communicate using alternate methods involving computers. To the best of my knowledge, noone involved in such research has been allowed to study her to see if she might be a candidate for such things. Heck, noone with any kind of background in advanced therapy has been allowed to see her. I personally hope that this stint of dehydration and starvation has not further damaged what little capacity she might have left.

All in all I agree that if someone is truly brain dead they should be let go. I do not however think that Terri has been truly diagnosed as brain dead. Just because some group of mediocre doctors that can't/won't think outside the box give an opinion do I feel is the proper way to diagnose this case. If she were staring off into space and twitching every once in a while for 13 years then I might agree, but the videos clearly show otherwise. If she truly is a vegetable then there is no harm to her in letting her live while some researcher pokes and prods her a little to try and wake something up in her that MIGHT, JUST MIGHT lead to something else. Again, I don't believe that has ever been done for her. Instead she does just sit and rot, while her husband refuses most if not all relevant treatments and therapies. If he doesn't want to deal with it, fine. Let her family deal with it, they are more than willing to do so. If it's a matter of principle, I can respect that, though I don't agree. If it's a matter of money or selfish pride, then he's nothing more than an evil SOB that I hope gets his in the end.

I have been torn overall about this case. I hope some good things come out of it all so Terri Shiavo's life and struggle won't be forgotten. I hope somehow, somebody can latch on to whatever is locked inside her and lead whatever is left of her back to reality.

Since everyone has decided to take issue with this case based on what you have read in the last day or so, it may be worth your while to read what has happened over the last decade or so. There is a lot more to this case than many realize.

That be Stephen Hawking - author of A Brief History of Time and I beleive he is the chair of the Mathematics and Physics department at Cambridge.

I haven't read the article, mostly becsause I'm tired of having to go somewhere else to read something - if you want us to read something, copy and paste it into the thread!

But from what I have read elsewhere, she has been in coma for 10 years - time to pull the plug, or in this case removethe feeding tube. From everyones postings, the hubby has apparently come to terms w/ his wife's condition, and is ready to move on with his life. The parents need to let her go too. Why be gready and keep her here artificially? Time to let her go to a better place.

And I have had dealings w/ this. My wife's father had a brain tumor several years ago, and was an invalid from the day I met him. 3 years ago he got aspirated pneumonia and the infection went to his brain (blood brain barrier had been comprimised from the surgery). We decided to remove the O2 and let him go naturally - as was directed in his Living Will.

Let this be a lesson to everyone - GET A LIVING WILL AND STATE YOUR DESIRES IN IT!

My wife and I went to the attorneys office this morning to make our will.

Alright Stephen Hawking has Lou Gehrig's disease. Might not be an appropriate comparison because he's slowly degenerating. The rest of my comments about special therapy and what not still stand however.

Agreed, very much so.
