UPDATE

The Dealer finally worked my Expy into the repair booth...I dropped it off on Tuesday the 19th.

Got a phone call today, they are saying it will be in the shop for about 2 weeks total. So went from a few days...to 2 weeks...WTF?

I am a huge Ford fan...but to be honest, I don't know if I'll buy another one NEW ever again. This is the 2nd BRAND NEW FORD I've bought in 3 yrs that has had an identical paint problem.
Especially with the rental game Ford is playing with me right now.

I bought a 7 Passenger Expedition EL...they are offering me a 4-5 passenger Ford Focus as a Rental vehicle...if I want something bigger, I have to pay the upgrade fee. Which is roughly $30+ each day.

And ontop of this, I am only "AUTHORIZED" for 1 week of rental. I had originally just decided to not get a rental at all...I can easily go a few days with just 1 car...but 2-weeks?

So I'm gonna pick up my rental on Tuesday next week

I swear, this has been the worst car buying experience I have ever had...I love my Fords...damn

What the hell am I supposed to do with a FOCUS? My kids carseats won't even fit in the backseat of one...

Yep, my wife had her Endevor worked on and they gave us a Loaded lancer to drive around. I liked it so much I offered to just let them swap us out but she wouldnt do it.

I was so impressed with them. Then I got a letter last week saying the place closed down at the drop of a hat (funny Bis if you ask me) and that now I have to drive 2 hours away for service.

Most of the dealerships around here treat people like shiz, thats untill I got this little card in my wallet . It seems to help alot of those nasty dealership owners change there minds.

yes, Honolulu Ford on King Street in Honolulu, Hawaii is the absolute worst Dealership I have ever ever ever come across.

I had me a 2005 Endeavour that I bought virtually new in mid-2005...that was my 1st adventure with Dodge. I would have offered to trade out of it as well

just didn't know it was a Dodge at the time.

what is this card you have?

Well, you're kinda screwed in hawaii, as for options. Our local lincoln dealer here has a **** poor service dept. When i'd take my aviator in for service, i told them I expected a lincoln rental and no less. Well the dealerships owners son tookover and cheaped out, they only had two lincoln loaners, and they used them in the "anyone can rent" dept so they were always gone. So i got bold and told them like it was, when my shizit is broke, you either have a lincoln waiting, or I'll drive it till it fails.......it'll be your problem when I turn in the lease......and suddenly I always had a rental right up to the end

yeah, that wouldn't work out here

Only reason I'm finally getting some satisfaction is because I got pissed the last time I was there. I was talking to the Dealership Manager (guy below the Owner) and he got me a bit angry with his double talk, and I coudn't nail him down about getting all the damage repaired.
I told him then he could explain the situation to the BBB and I was going home to file the complaint.

Big change in the way my situation was handled immediatly...still might file a complaint when it's all done though.

My paint had better be 100% perfect.

another thing that screws me and anyone else out here is the local populace mentality. They don't question anything. You put a sticker on a car saying it cost $5,000 to get it on the Island, and they pay that without a qualm...or why does a box of Cheerios cost almost $7.00?

So the Dealership knows they can just ignore you usually...where else you gonna go?
I know, I live on an Island...but there are some things...wow

The rail dust is no suprise to me either, seen it many times on about every brand I can think of. I have to think your paint flaws and door dings probably had somehting to do with getting shuffled around a lot for a year being parked next to a lot of different cars that prospective customers may have been looking at.

Also that Expedition had a lot of stop offs in holding yards to get it all the way from Michigan to Hawi.

Anyway, I feel your pain, my last new Ford was a 2006 KR F250 crew cab 4x4. I ordered that truck and picked it up less than two days after arrived at the dealer. It had a few scratches that were put in it by either the guy that did the PDI on it, or the detail guy that cleaned it up.

The other bad thing was the bed was on crooked and just about every fender and door had to be adjusted.

Here is what realy scares me, that the truck I bought in 06 was built in the same KY plant that Ford has now moved the Expedition production too as of about 2 months ago. Now all Expys are being made in the same plant as the Super duty trucks. I sure as hell hope they have all the fenders and door on straight this time.

I think this time I am gping to ask the dealer to just check the fluids and do only what that have to get though the PDI process, and skip the cleanup. I think will feel safer doing my own detail on this one, the one I am getting, is also black like yours and we both know how well the black paint can show flaws or damages real easy. i really do not trust the dealers much at all when it comes to being cautious with black painted cars or trucks.

I don't fault the Dealership or Ford for anything that happened in transit. Stuff happens, no way around that...However, I have a huge issue with the apprarent lack of concern over the final "Delivery Appearance" for when I bought it.

The problems I've encountered should have been caught, and corrected. Especially on a vehicle marked with a $50,000 sticker price.

btw, I thought the Expy is still going to be produced in the same plant. Just 1/2 the year it will be for small cars (Fusion, Focus), and the other half for limited production of the Expedition/Exploder.

I haven't gotten a KY plant vehicle yet. All my stuff has been Dearborne, and now the Expy plant. Can't offer a opinion on the KY one

btw, I hear you about not letting Lot Idiots near another vehicle. I'm either going to buy a used 05/06 Harley F-250 in the next year, or save my pennies and buy a 2012 Harley F-250
no way in hell anybody is gonna touch that...not unless they've got serious money on the line like a Detail Shop

It was my understanding that the biggest reason why there are so few Expeditions on dealers lots right now had to do with the major shut down to move the tooling and some personel to KY.

I am pretty sure Ford made this move do to the sharp decline in sales of both the Super Duty and the Full size SUVs, that they wanted to move it all to just using one plant for the both of them.

There are some older threads over on the blue oval forum with some post from someone that works in the KY plant, that was sort of helping another member that had one ordered, with info on when xpy production was supose to start back up again in KY.

My understanding is any 09 actaully built in 09 would be from KY, but any thing built in 08 was from the old plant in MI.

Tylus - What ever happened with the truck? Did they get it taken care of yet? I just bought a used 2008 Expedition EL Ltd, black on black as well, and so far I love it...Mine had 30k miles on it and had hardly any blemishes on it. Hope they get you taken care of...I couldn't imagine how angry I would be at buying a new vehicle and having those issues...I bought a 2006 F150 Lariat Chrome Edition black on black with like 4 miles on it and its exterior looked as good the day i traded it in for my Expy as the day I bought it...Hope I can keep this one up...I dont know why I like black so much, but I cant help it how good it looks all cleaned and polished!

UPDATE:

I dropped off my vehicle 2 weeks ago yesterday. I called on Monday to check on it.

Despite me putting good faith in the Dealership, they've completely broken me. I called today to see when I could pick her up.

Guess what?
Apparently, my Expy has been sitting on the ****ing lot for 2 weeks. They decided to "work" on it today.

Somehow, the authorization by Ford to do Warranty Work got denied. So it just sat.

I got story after story over the phone, and finally drove my happy *** down there. I finally nailed down the ****ing truth after I explained a few facts to the idiot PEONS and got somebody who was actually in charge.
1. It sat on a lot for 2 weeks
2. My phone call Monday was their "Oh ****, it hasn't been worked on" moment
3. They lied to me several times over the phone today, and played a game of "shuffle" by moving my Expy from lot to lot.
4. They successfully avoided me long enough for the repair shop to disassemble the entire interior, and 1 fender...so they can "paint it, and return by Friday"

Considering what they've done, I think I managed to keep my cool. The curse words at a bare minimum.

However, I still don't have my Expy, and there hasn't been a single repair made to it yet.

Supposedly, first thing in the morning, they are re-assembling it, and I will take delivery of my Expy at 1200....exactly as I left it 2+ weeks ago. We'll see.
I've already started the BBB Complaints, and I'm calling Ford Corporate first thing in the A.M.

I'm not sure what incompetant **** is in charge, but I"m about to become the biggest PITA he has ever experienced.

I'm just hoping the stupid bastards don't try and get sneaky and paint the vehicle...then say they can't return it to me since the paint is wet
