DarrenWS6's 2007 F-150 Supercrew finally has aftermarket exhaust!

After having my truck for a year and 2 days, I finally got the exhaust done back in June of this year. I had planned a legit free flowing exhaust from day one, with a 3" midpipe. No more true duals. I changed my mind up too many times on what muffler to go with. First it was the Magnapack, then it was the 12" oval Borla XR-1, then it was the round body 40085 XR-1, then it was back to the 12" oval, then winter came and I didn't bother to get the exhaust done. I was even going to have a new Super 10 series put in just to experience it ( I know I know.. ). I don't know why but I never really minded having the truck quiet, probably from the heavy droning from my old 2004's true dual Bullets. It was quite nice at times having the peace. But since this past spring, I got sick of it and craved the modular rumble so I got parts ordered and got it all installed. Below are the exhaust statistics for the exhaust in the posted video.

- Stock manifolds. ( for now, passenger gasket leaks, to be replaced with Longtubes soon ).

- Stock cats. ( to be replaced with Magnaflow #94136s when LTs installed )

- T-409 stainless Mandrel Bent Solutions 90 degree bend. ( for left bank transition, yes, there is reduction in OEM pipe size there )

- Magnaflow #10778 Y-pipe. ( smooth in-disrupted flowpath for dual 2.5" to single 3" )

- 3" T-409 stainless intermediate pipe, un-bent.

- Magnaflow #14419 Magnapack 4"x14" round muffler.

- Magnaflow #10778 Y-pipe. ( Making the single 3" exhaust a dual 2.5" outlet tailpipe system )

- T-409 stainless Mandrel Bent 2.5" tailpipes exiting 45'd behind both wheels ( because that is how I roll )

- Magnaflow #35117 4"x18" rolled edge tips.

Enjoy.

Nothing really to review. Its just as loud as my 2004 was, but its so common on F-150s that its just like a flowmaster 40 back in the 2000s, everyone and their grandmother has it .

Nope, still a bit too quiet outside, but a good hum of drone inside because the muffler is almost fully under cab due to it being a 5'5 bed truck and the Y pipe for tails is preventing the muffler from being under bed. But basically, the noise inside does not meet with the sound outside. Below is a picture viewing where the cab and muffler/Y pipe are located.

I thought it was me but the little interior drone is very well present, and the downfall with the magnapack is the loss of tone under acceleration.

And well, really not much compliment on the exhaust i have the same thing...but that front end looks so good

Sounds good man! I was considering doing this when I got tired of my current muffler, but maybe going with one of the Borlas instead??? Can't wait to hear it with the lt's. Truck is lookin awful sexy, good work man.

I would definitely go that way, the #40085 round XR-1. Arklight has proven its the best of both worlds ( loudness of round body, deep tone of an oval ) with a consistent tone. If I dislike the sound after the cat/header work I will be buying one for myself.

I want to get a few more cosmetics done before that though, I am sick of the chrome rear bumper and stock 3rd brake . '09+ Lariat badges would be quite nice too.

Why don't yah just niteshade the heck out of the 3rd? i'd do it to save cash in the mean time, you got a chrome bumper to worry about

On another note, do you feel like the magnapack is sorta "muffled" i feel like it is lacking a tone in general and when i get on it traffic its just a loud vrrrrrrrr....listening to arklights and john's truck dont help either

That is actually a good idea, cause it will more than likely go in the trash can when I replace it. I want an LED one with separate cargo bulbs. Basically, the exact brake light I had on my old truck. Man I'm so ticked at myself for not removing that and a lot of other stuff before trading my '04 in... I also wanted to have Brent spray and PPG clear it for me.

As for the Magnapack, from inside, it does sound like it loses tone as it accelerates, it can be heard rumbling inside at 70mph. I am not 100% satisfied with the overall note. However, I had my friend drive my truck off normally, then floored, both sounded wicked awesome and well toned, but with the OEM cats the low rpm ( 2000rpm ) noise is barely noticeable after the truck is a half block away or so. My old truck could be heard before it was seen, I miss that lol.

Yup, thats exactly my thinking. i did the same to all 3 of my tails becasue i have hopes of replacing later on down the line, but dark red does for now...the trouble some part will be to remove it, you got a back window??

Yes everything you describe is what i'm saying. I'm really considering getting high flows, but for performance mainly.

If i recall, i got 09 style emblems from tasca for a doable $60ish i dont remember exactly...Harley emblems would be nice though

The exhaust sounds great, bud!! Gotta give it a little time to 'break in' though. The volume goes up nicely and so does the overall tone and how long it is held throughout the RPM range.

You won't. Axe me how I know!

I'll put it this way, if after you've installed hi-flows and LTs you're STILL not 127% satisfied, you probably can't be satisfied.

Well, it is a 'muffler'!

Seriously though, mine gradually woke up nicely after about 2500 miles or so. Of course, I had hi-flows from the beginning, and I know that makes a difference too. But when the LTs went on, it was definitely a new beast altogether!

I noticed this when I first had my Magnapacks installed. Inside, it seemed too quiet for me. Outside, it was completely different! I was pleasantly surprised at how much more volume and tone there actually was because I simply couldn't hear it all inside.

When you get the hi-flows and LTs installed, you'll defect from the evil Borla side and come back home.
