Question Flowmaster 40 getting louder...

I've had a Flowmaster 40 series for about 10 months now and I just noticed (thanks to my wife, go figure) that it's been getting louder with time. It sounds like an I/O boat exhaust, you know, like under the water exhaust. I checked for leaks but it all looks good, to my exhaust-untrained eye that is. I like it better now ;0), but I was just wondering if this is something to worry about.

Any similar cases???

Thumbs up Flowmaster 40 series

Hi Alf

I have had Flowmaster mufflers on all my trucks over the years, and yes as they get older and get some mileage on them they will get a little louder. Nothing to worry about.

Have a good day.

Larry.

they should get quieter as they get coated with soot and what not since they are a baffle design.

The packing design like the eddys and magnaflows will break down and get louder with time.

Try pushing on the muffler to see if a baffle has broken lose inside the unit.

What would happen if I just left it as it is? I like the sound it makes now better than before.

Thumbs up

Hi Alf

Nothing will happen, if you like how they sound now then leave them as they are.

Sounds as if your truck is reaching puberty!
voice deepens, more aggressive attitude.
Raise a teenager you'll understand.
just a little humor...

Got it! I wasn't sure what the punch line was.
