Too much?

I received my Magnaflow 4x14 Magnapacks, Hi Flows, and am waiting on my x-pipe. Went down to a pretty reputable exhaust shop to get a rough estimate. Now keep in mind, I'm supplying the mufflers, hi-flows and x-pipe, I need tubing, hanging material, tips and installation. I was quoted $450 to put it all together Is it just me or does that sound ridiculously high considering I'm providing many of the parts? I figured the tips could certainly run me well over $100 (double wall maggie 4" tips) and figured labor at even $75/hr for 2 hrs (quoted time) and $75 is prolly on the VERY high side...so I'm to believe hangers and 2.5" tube costs $200?! I asked the guy if I was getting mandrel bent pipes for that price, he looked confused and said it was anodized pipe and hangers... I dunno, maybe it's close for pricing, but hell, a few more bucks and I could buy the LT headers and have a shop do a complete install...

Expand your search to other counties. I would only pay $450 for stainless pipes and mandrel bends.

Shop around--all I supplied was the 40 Flow muffler and cash, and my total came out to $225, and the shop I went to is highly reputable and has been around forever. Now I'm sure they didn't use the best steel for my pipes but I've so far had 0 issues with my setup after almost a year.

$250 - $280 with tax all together for your standard aluminized 16 gauge steel smooth bent.

Found a shop nearby, said they could do it no problem, they have 304 stainless and said the stainless will run $100 more than what anodized will, but should still come in less than the last place I checked...going in on tuesday for a quote, still waiting on my x-pipe which should be in monday, and tips. I was looking at these two:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=...3AMEBOFFX%3AIT

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-x-4...item588f81692f

I love the second choice, the double wall tip, but it's 2.25" inlet, and pricey. The shop I checked out today though said a well made tip can usually be opened up the extra .25" so you can attach a 2.25" stretched tip to 2.5" tubing. Any validity to this? Anyone have that done before?

BTW, the reason for the short tips, they will be dumped behind the rear bumper like KR-Texas' Raptor with true duals....I LOVE that setup, I think we'll be seeing alot of it in the future!

Another thing, I know 304 is the best way to go, 409 is lower in quality but still better than alluminized steel, but one place was saying they have alluminized steel, another saying they have anodized steel. But isn't anodizing the same process as alluminizing, where the steel is hot dip coated? or is anodizing more like zinc plating or galvanized coating?

my tips were opened up a good .25" but that was because i went with with 45'd exits, makes it easy to install achive the angle wanted, so YES there is validity to this, it's quite cool how they fab all this stuff up, FYI my tips are magnaflow

well I guess what I need to know is can that tip in the second link (the 2.25" inlet, 4" diameter 7" long tip) which is a double wall tip be stretched to 2.5" no problem, before I drop $100 plus alone on tips. I know typical ss tips, the type we all see, 3.5"-4" diameter, 18-22" long, single wall 45* slash cut, I know those can be stretched, but I don't know if double wall is different, especially where the length is so much shorter than typical.

It's just that I prefer that look over the double wall rolled edge. These ones I like http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-x-4...item588f81692f just seem to look nicer, they have that angle in around the edge, from the outer wall to the inner wall, but Magnaflow doesn't make that style tip in 2.5" inlet for whatever reason
