Unhappy Major Disappointment- need advice

I'm about to order my magnaflow stuff for true duals with 2.5" pipes. I'm getting 2 oval mufflers (part# 12246) an x-pipe crossover (part# 10791) and high flow cats (part# 94136). I just called a local exhaust shop that has a good reputation and has done a few small things for me and some people I know. They said there isn't room for an x-pipe crossover because the pipes have to run side-by-side down the right side of the truck. I know that can't be right. He said to get a dual in/dual out muffler and it would be the same thing as an x-pipe crossover and cheaper. He also said high flow cats would be a lot of work to put on and it would cost an extra $150 to install the 2 cats. These cats would already have an O2 mount in them. It will only be $160 (not including tips) to run the 2.5" pipes if I don't do new cats. Is it really that big of deal to put an x-pipe in and to put on high flow cats that already have O2 mounts in them? I thought putting an x-pipe and cats on was as simple as welding the pipes onto both ends and screwing the O2 sensors into the bungs in the cats. Is there more to it than that? So I'm looking at $160 for pipes + $150 to install the cats + $125 for 5x24 tips + cost of the mufflers, cats, x-pipe. I was thinking it would be like $20 extra to weld the high flow cats on

Sounds like they're afraid of a little work and scared of new ideas.....call around to some other shops.....

I was planning on it. Is a dual in/dual out muffler really the same as an x-pipe crossover? I didn't think the pipes connected inside the muffler. I thought they ran through independently. And is putting on high flow cats and an x-pipe really that hard?

for exhaust gurus if your running true duals a seperate x pipe and 2 mufflers is much more better sounding then one big can, and true duals have done so many times on these trucks, you shop is just scared to do the work, i'd look elsewhere

There's a difference between the two.....the x pipe cross over can fit in the y pipe area and the muffler can't.....there's another reason but I can't remember it right now....

That's what I was thinking. I'm going to check some other places

Show him this picture and tell him to kiss your ***. The X pipe and hiflow cats are NOT difficult to install. $150 to install the cats alone is just plain ridiculous. Go to a different shop that knows what they are doing.

Print off pictures of every true dual configuration in this section and show it to them. They're raping you in labor and pipe cost.

You think $160 to run the pipes is too much? I know $150 to weld in the cats is beyond ridiculous but I thought $160 to run the pipes wasn't bad

I knew there was plenty of room for an x-pipe. I'm not sure why this guy was trying to turn away business. It's normally a good shop with good prices. They've done a couple little things for me and not even charged me. I don't know why he doesn't want to put true duals on my truck

Use magnaflow muffler 12568 and save the money and weight of two mufflers. This one has the flow to handle 600hp and it doesn't drone at all. Here's a pic
