High Flow Cats and Emissions

I've got a 2007 Lariat 4x4 and I'm about to pull the trigger on a couple Magnaflow 94106s but I've got one last question. I live in NC and certain counties require emission testing. Unfortunately I live in one of those. Will replacing my OEM cats with 2 94106s cause me to fail the emission testing or make it harder to pass?

Thanks in advance guys!

As long as the O2's are mounted after the rear cats, then yes, it will pass emissions.

I figured as long as I wasn't throwing a code I'd be fine on the OBD II part of the testing. The part that concerns me is the "sniffer" they put in the tailpipe.

Edit: I just reread my post and didn't intend to sound crass. With my luck, I'm just paranoid I won't pass emissions and then I'll really be screwed.

Not really. I guess if you're OEM cats were plugged they could make a difference in gas mileage but I definitely didn't see a difference. They sure sound good though!

More power due to the less restricted design of the new cats. Not much, but it's an added plus.

I have the maggie high flows in the 3" version and I live in one of these emissions counties. I passed with no problems, no sniffer up the tail...pipe just hooked up to the obd port.

Thanks for the info batn68. It makes me feel a lot better to know someone in NC passed.

^me to. I am about to pull the trigger as well. From what I hear, mount the cats as far forward and the o2 sensors right behind the cat and you should be fine.

Only way it could crew you over if if you aren't running the amount of cats they know the vehicle came factory with. Since '97 - early model '05s had 2, and '06+ had 2.

Darren, Im pretty sure they dont do the visual, just the OBDII. The thing is finding a shop who will touch the cats.

Well in NC, I wouldn't know. Here in PA, the emissions counties do a sniffer, and visual inspection. Just as strict as NY is with it.. Glad I am not in an emissions county.

Have you found a place yet? I've got a guy in Winston Salem that is doing mine. I know that a 1 and 1/2 hr drive but if you can't find anyone locally... Where in oxford do you live? My wife is from oxford so I'm there every now and then.
