Hello & welcome.

Both Fartmaster & Magnaflow offer very loud variants, and each has it's own unique, very personal and subjectively appreciated sound. What is considered 'drone' to some is music to others ...

Generally speaking, the larger the internal volume of the muffler canister, the quieter it is ...

I will offer this in terms of a performance perspective, though ... excerpted from this post: https://www.f150online.com/forums/1754796-post2.html

Now exactly which muffler you use will depend on what kind of sound characteristics you want, so that's why you need to call, so we can go over all of that with you. It's not just length alone, for example.

What that Flowmaster setup is doing is actually *reducing* torque on part throttle at any rpm, and reducing torque below about 3000 rpm a at any throttle position - and that is due to all those silly baffles & chambers they use as part of their "sound engineering" - all they are is impediments to airflow, and slow down exhaust gas velocity, which is why you don't see much in the way of HP gains form them, and actually lose torque, especially in the lower rpm ranges. When it comes to torque, exhaust gas *velocity* is absolutely key. ...
You decide

Good luck!

I will be following this thread as I too am in question on what to do with my exhaust situation as i am going to have to remove the tailpipe in order to install a trailer hitch on my truck!
And the more I think about it I am liking the super quiet exhaust sound, Its nice to be able to hear my own brain think! But then again_on the other hand I want to hear the roar of the monster under the hood!

magnaslow sounds like poop on a stick (minus the stick) at any RPM, sure on the dyno sheets it shows like 3 hp over the slowmaster when revved to 6000 + rpms

on the same dyno sheets the borla xr-1 and xs pro mufflers out performed all the other brands but the magnaflow following is huge on this forum and what you'll see shortly when that's the #1 brand you are told to use

honestly, you need to get on you tube and watch sound clips (I know internet sucks compared to real life where you feel and hear the exhaust sounds) and then once you find a truck you like the soudn of you can copy that exhaust

What truck is it going on? 04+ 5.4 MBRP SI/SO sounds excellent and you can't beat the price for a full cat back system, stainless, mandrel bent with tip for around $350 shipped.

Magnaflow hands dont when compared to Flowmaster's junk.

Borla is the king though, t-304 stainless and a rich note, cant go wrong.

having had both brands I say magnaflow has a better tone, doesn't cause low end loss, doesn't rust out... and is cheaper. Really no comparison

Agreed. If all you are going to change is the exhaust itself you should go with the sound you like best because you will be hard pressed to notice the "losses", but that's just my opinion based on my own MBRP and Flowmaster experiences.
