Shortys wont gain any power, just a very minor sound change, Longtubes will gain you more low end energy, and a massive sound increase. You will need to upgrade to aftermarket cats to kit better. You can buy a cheap set and have them Jet Coated to last long, or buy the t-304 stainless steel Dynatech leaders that come with cats and Y pipe for $1400. Performs best with an intake, and custom tune.

i completely agree with darren with his first post. right on the money. they start as cheap as 289 but you get what you pay for. shorties suck and long tubes have a very noticeable gain. you'll feel the torque every time and on the highway it has enough power to never downshift even while towing.

hope this helps, the headers and tuner WOKE this truck up and i"ll never go back

You can gain a nice amount with long tube headers. Even more if you have a better exhaust setup. The stock manifolds/exhaust are very restrictive.

It never hurts to work your way from the back to the front.. Thats what everybody does, muffler/cat back changes, cat changes, then headers if its still not loud enough or if they want more performance. If you plan to trade in later down the road its not a real good investment to make.

Good looking out Darren, also I plan on buying LT headers. OBX headers have some good feed back.

Depends in what you want. If you want performance, go long tubes 1st. If you want sound, go with a catback. Either way you cant lose!

I too am wondering about it messing up an already existing aftermarket exhaust if I decide to go with long tubes?I have a full custom exhaust from manifold back to high flow cats and then into a single in-dual out muffler set-up.Cost me alot of money and I dont want to ruin what I already paid for just to install a set of long tubes...
