Got quote on exhaust work!!

I recently bought 2 hi flow cats, X pipe and 2 super 44 mufflers. So today I go to get a few quotes locally. This guy told me $380 I dont even want any fancy tips, I want them to go over the axle and shoot straight down! I mean WTF...Does he just not want to fool with it. After that I had to listen to him talk me out of this combo for 45 minutes.. Said it really want be much louder! This guy was a true @ss Hat! Sorry for the rant!!

That's the setup I've wanted to run for a little while man. They charge an arm and a leg for Cats, I've heard of around 200 dollars for cat work alone. Do you have exhaust done? Or are you redoing your entire exhaust? Or do they have to replace all the pipe. Pipe costs money. I assume 20-25 dollars to put an X pipe, and around 50-75 to install mufflers that puts you at about 300, then any parts he may need, tax(on parts) And he may just be an ***.

If he's charging $300 then the dude is making seriously $150 an hour off that job. The exhaust I had installed on my F-150 (catback, SI/DO 40 series with 3.5" slash cut tips) cost me $340. Installed and for all the parts.

jlstang, I dont know how close you are to the west Atlanta area but, I know a muffler shop that would more then likely do it ALOT cheaper. If your intrested shoot me a pm. I took my truck there to get new tips put on and to get them ran different and he only charged me $20

Sounds a bit high but the cat work will bunmp the price upo a little more but you should be able to get it all done for $300 or so average.

just to cut my y and run dual 2.25" pipes dumped at the bumper i was quoted 300 and i was supplying the mufflers and x pipe. nobody in my area even does mandrel bends. exhaust shops can charge whatever they want because most people are willing to pay it.

I got quotes today to get my stuff done... I finally found a guy that does it on the side who is going to get my cats in for me, bend all my new pipe, and weld it all up. He is doing it for about 250 (still a rip imo), but its better than the 400-500 other shops wanted to just bend pipe and weld stuff up. I have everything like you (hi-flow cats, pipe with bungs, xpipe, slp loudmouths, and slp 5" tips...

7 years ago i got a complete custom dual exhaust system on my dodge for 250 bucks... Where did those prices go?

Yea, shops are getting out of control. There was a shop here like that, and I have the biggest smile on my face everytime I drive by the guy's closed down shop.

Im not trying to have $700 tied up in my exhaust! If i have to ill find a guy at work to weld in the cats and then just go have the pipe ran. Dont see why it would take longer than a hour and half. They dont even have to square the tips up. just run them over the axle and leave them alone! Going today to get more quotes!

im havin the same problem as you. same setup except with 2 cherry bombs and an exit before the tire. i got quoted around 400 from 4 different shops. one shop sent me to a guy that could "get it done cheaper than anyone else" and he quoted me 450. the only decent quote i got was for "around 300" and the guy didnt really sound like he knew what he was talking about

Went to the shop I usually go to...Told me $180, and Had no dumb suggestions! Looks like I might drop it off in the morning. How much are used cats going for these days? Figured I would try and get some of my money back. Aslo have a SI-SO flowmaster!
