Lightning style side pipes or turndown?

I just bought a Thrush Glasspack to go on my 4.2L. I'm cutting my exhaust off just in front of my factory muffler and welding the glasspack in, then either gonna put a turn down right behind the muffler or do the Lightning style side pipes. Anyone know what would sound better?

personally a glasspack was a bad choice on a v6 so i would have to say neither is going to sound good but out of the 2 i would say a turndown, but its going to sound ricey either way

One of my friends has a chevy w a 4.3 v6 with flowmasters and it sounds alright idling, but soon as he gets above 2grand, it sounds aweful(really high pitched). I used to have a 99 ford explorer with a 4.0 with a glasspack and it sounde pretty good for a 6 banger. I like the side pipes, but I think it will sound alot better with a turndown.

That will sound alright turned down right out of the glasspack. Just make sure it is 2' past the cab.

The 6 banger sounds alright like that, but, nothing can ever make it sound like a V8.

That reminds me of a guy that had evidently fut a fart master on his pontiac grand prix. He was sitting in the parking lot revving the hell out of it. Needless to say when I rolled the ol' ford around he stopped making noise when he couldn't be heard anymore. LMAO But, it is always a good laugh when I hear the pissed off bumble bees acting tough!

I got a deal on the side pipes I couldn't turn down. I figured if I don't like it, I could just cut them off and dump it. It sounds awesome!I like it. It sounds really deep until about 4 grand, then you can tell it's a 6 banger. It sounds really good when you downshift and it rumbles. Thanks for the advice.

Good call with the side pipes. You can see how mine are done here:

I hear what you're saying, but I wouldn't put down the GP too quickly, unless it was the 3100 V6. If it was the 3800...that is a strong motor. I had a 97 GTP and it was a quick car. I had dual Hooker Aerochambers on mine. I knew of several modded GTPs that could easily hang with stang GTs. But I agree with what you're saying about people with not so great cars thinking they are the $***
