I don't sell cars, nor do I sell or install mufflers. I snipped the information I posted directly from two sites. The flowmaster info came from flowmaster's website, the magnafart info came from, you guessed it, Magnaflows site. Flowmaster provides more technical spec information than magnaflow cause they research more and develop more products. Magnafart has one simple design, and the only difference is length or width of their mufflers......flowmaster has several different designs to fit individual applications.

You've each (that have taken serious part in this) posted respective data from the two manufacturers that we are talking about, however I didn't post those for the simple reason that the response would simply be that "the information is skewed towards their own product....." You know you'd have gone there if I had posted it, so I left it out there for you.

Bottom line that can't be negated, flowmaster does mufflers, designed for race cars and moved into the everyday street car catagory and invented the entire exhaust revolution, something that even Mike Troyer himself will agree with. Magnaflow is an extension of a company that only moved into mufflers because the market was so vast thanks to flowmasters expansion of said market. Magnaflows parent company doesn't specialize in mufflers, they specialize in bringing as many products to market as possible to enhance their bottom line. Magnaflow started out as a crapcan on the shelf at pepboys and other retailers years ago, I know thats where I had bought mine. Somehow they managed (through marketing slyness) to make John Q public believe that stainless was necassary under the truck. This is simply not true unless you live in a high road salt content area. I had the flows on my stang for 7 years and there wasn't even any surface rust on them.

Again though, I state for the first poster, its a matter of personal preference. Flowmaster sounds better, provides all the performance you need, and has the history to prove it. Magnafart sounds like the fart cans on ricers (cause its the same design, so if you're knockin the ricers your knocking the magnafart design) and the only thing they have going for them is mythical numbers and stainless with a lifetime warranty. You make the call.

I think a flowmaster sounds like a fartmaster and a magnaflow sounds better. It's all a matter of personal preference, I just won't try and sell a personal agenda.

I think a Flowmaster sounds manly and a Magnaflow sounds like a sissy after eating beans. It's all a matter of preference, I just won't try and sell a personal agenda.

Refried beans would have just crossed the line.

Sound is just personal opinion/preference. There're no facts that can back that up. I like the flowmaster sound the best. Even makes V6's sound good. My dad had a 1989 chevy 1500 that he had put an original flowmaster 40 on it, and the muffler was still good after 330,000+ miles and on a second engine before it was sold. My mom had a 1990 corvette with dual flowmaster original 40's and they were just replaced a couple years back, and they lasted a good 12yrs. On the vette the mufflers are at the end of the system so all kinds of junk (water, salt, dirt) gets in the mufflers. So they do last.
