Flowmaster vs Magnaflow

I bought my truck used and it already has a SI/DO Flowmaster on there. I am a fan of Magnaflow and actually prefer there sound. Would it benefit me any horsepower wise / MPG to switch to magnaflow over flowmaster??

I highly doubt you could tell that big of a difference even though the mag is strait through. Just the sound will change.

Go ahead and switch to the Maggie, you'll be happier. It helped out with my throttle response and gained about 1.5 MPG to boot.

Magnaflow will not reduce low end torque while the Flowmaster does. Fairly well documented. The Magnaflow is reported to be quieter, which is why some don't like them. Not sure if the cost of the exhaust would be worth the small amt. of torque that could be regained. But, you could sell your existing exhaust which would help....

You won't feel any difference. It won't help the new trucks with throttle response, that problem is with the "throttle by wire". I don't think it would be worth it to change other than what sound you prefer. Unless you just want the stickers to make you go faster (ricer joke).

Yeah I agree stick with what you have now, Flowmaster doesn't restrict alot of power, its better than the stock muffler no doubt. Plus you gotta love that sound!

I doubt you will see much of a difference either way.

Actually you lose low end torque with a flowmaster as compared to a magnaflow.

You can't feel the difference. It might show on a dyno, but its only a couple ft.lbs. if any. You still gain over stock with both mufflers, but the flowmaster really excels in the higher rpms.

I personally wouldnt buy another Flowmaster. Im on my 2nd stainless Flowmaster in 5 years and the way the current one is rusting-out, I have a feeling I will getting another free muffler from Flowmaster sometime soon.
Mine always seem to break at the flange that goes into the muffler.
Sure, Flowmaster covers it and all I have to pay is $20 for installation but its still BS. A stainless muffler should not rot-out in less than 3 years, no matter how much roadsalt that state of Wisconsin uses.
