My Magnaflow Experience/Opinion

I've asked on this board as well as others about which magnaflow to go with. After many opinions and thoughts I finally decided on the 14" (12226). I was worried about it being too loud...I wanted something tolerable when cruising and at idle but would sound off under throttle. I also moved the exhaust outlet in front of the rear wheel on the pass side. After the install I was a little worried when the fired it up for the first time, but it was almost like stock!!! I was a little disappointed in it, but now after 4 days with a couple of road trips it has got louder. It's still very quiet on the highway from the drivers seat (although I rode in the passenger seat a little while yesterday and it was noticeably loud). I feel it has a little quicker response. It doesn't have the drone like flows at all, which I was really trying to avoid so that's perfect. I don't notice the sound much driving around other than when I accelerate, and I see people turn to look when I drive by, but I can start it and drive away without annoying the neighbors. I'm really happy overall with it.

Seems that there was lots of people wondering the same as I was, so I wanted to post up my experience. Hopefully it will help out others.

Glad to hear those remarks. The reason I went with Magnaflow was for those reasons exactly.

Magnaflow mufflers

I'm waiting for a set of Magnaflows I bought on e-bay to be delivered. In his ad the seller said the mufflers(p/n 14377) were on his Cobra.I didn't know that Magnaflow made mufflers specifically for a Cobra.I looked up the p/n and it a universal muffler, polished stainless steel, they run $157.00 apiece. He e-mailed me that they weren't quite loud enough for him,so he went to another muffler and I picked up the pair for $100.00 plus shipping. He said they have a nice throaty rumble, not to loud @ highway speed and I'll like them.I hope so.Curious to see if anyone has heard these mufflers and what do they sound like?

Well for an idea in general what magnaflows sound like, here's my truck with the 16616 kit, SVT Lightning style.

Magnaflow exhaust

Arca ex,you have a sweet looking truck, thanks for the exhaust clip.I've run my pipes all the way out the back, they dump just in front of the rear bumper.I have the FM 50's on now and I like the sound I get from them,no drone that you get w/ the 40's,but its time to go w/ the Magnaflows. Thanks for your post.

I'll make some better clips when my new camera gets here, the sound quality should be much better then. I love the sound, because when you are cruising it's barely noticeable over the radio, but when you punch it it just comes to life. So it's there when i want it to be loud and it's not when i'd prefer it to be quiet. Also there is absolutely no drone at all, it's great.

And hey, I like my flip flops :P
