Dumped=louder, or not

If i went from duals out the back with no muffler to just a turn down right before the rear axle would it be louder?

Well you're already running no muffler, so if you switched from that to just having a turn down before the rear axle your truck is not gonna get much louder. Because your dumping it under the truck it might seem louder to you in the cab, but that doesn't really mean that its technically louder. I've read some of your posts and I understand what your going for. The only way to make it that much more noticeably louder would be to gut your cats or just take them off entirely....you could have someone at an exhaust shop make a pipe that would fit where your cats are and just buy exhaust band clamps and put in straight pipes. Then when you gotta go through emissions clamp back on your cats and your all set. Or you could gut your pre-cats and get rear hi-flows, that would probably still make it louder and you supposedly won't throw any codes.

also....i want to gut my pre-cats and go with rear hi-flows cause i live in CT and we have a visual and diagnostic test, but no sniffer....so i think doing that will pass fine cause your **** looks ok and you won't throw codes with the rear hi-flows with 02 sensors.

Heres a pic of my setup. Apparently not everyone likes it, but I love it!! I have a lot of buddies who have this exact same setup and none of us would trade if for anything! Most of them didnt even put on turn downs, just straight out the muffler, no pipe, nothing. I highly recommend.

will be a little louder, b.c you are getting rid of 4 bends. Anywhere right around the axle is good. As long as you are past the back of the cab dont worry about fumes. I personally prefer dumped before the axle.

Pic and video in sig.
