How about a description of what is wrong, and some info on your truck ( or complete your profile ) ?

Sorry. I thought I completed it. 2005 F-150 King Ranch. The door open light and error message will not go away. Sprayed WD-40 everywhere. Unfortunately this truck has been a lemon since we bought it. I was told the door ajar latch is in the handle and cannot be seen but that WD-40 should take care of it. Would carb/choke cleaner work best? Is it a possibility that the handle is clogged?

2 other places to look.

1. Broken wire in the door to A-pillar.
This has happened for a few items in threads ( not chronic mind you ) where things like the power mirrors will stop working. Turned out to be a broken wire. The wire is never the same, and I have only seen it 2 or 3 times so far

2. Splice gone bad in the door sill.
This appears to have other things associated with the splice going bad, and the splice can be anywhere along the left door sill ( both front and rear ).
https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...oor-opens.html

These 2 are usually the case with the '04+ MY trucks having the interior light problem, where the 97-03 it was the WD-40 trick on the door latch.
This is just from what I have seen here, so it is a small representation of the whole.
Block out an afternoon, and take a look with both.
It is time consuming, but an easy task to complete.
Searching through all the wires ( both in the a-pillar and the sill ) takes time and patience.

Hope this helps.

When you find it, please post back what you found, so others can benefit from your experiences.

If you do not find a broken wire, then it is time to get the volt meter out, and we can start a diagnoses path.

Door ajar

The entire switch was bad in the passenger side door. The part cost @ $147. I was told it is not common and that WD - 40 will usually fix it. I also found out that a new steering wheel for a King Ranch costs $330. Thanks for your help
