98 remote keyless entry

hey all.. I nabbed a remote keyless entry module and matching remote from a local pick-n-pull, was wondering if all the trucks come wired from the factory for these? cant seem to find matching plugs in the wire harness under the dash where the unit came from on the donor truck. thanks for any info. Randy

How about a trim level and cab type to go with that question ( or complete your profile ) ?

Also, is the part from the same MY and trim level as yours ?

I went and checked, 1999 MY RAP will not go into a 1998 MY truck.

The addition of PATS in 1999 changed some of the RAP functions.

Sorry what you bought won't go in your truck.

The 1998 MY has :

1. Ignition tamper switch ( not in 1999 with PATS )
2. Alarm indicator control LED ( in 1999 with PATS this is the Theft light blinking on the cluster )
3. Starter Interrupt control ( in 1999 with PATS, the starter immobilizer is between the HEC and PATS with the programed keys )

On the surface the 2 look the same with the same 2 connectors on it ( C256 and C257 ), but the same as the RAP to CSM change in the 2001 MY, the pins are not the same, and the modules are not interchangeable.

The 1999 MY did not have all the wiring for adding items like the door keypad, and had to be added.
