Cannot shift out of Park on F150

I got into my 2001 Ford F150 and could not shift out of park. The "Stop lamp switch (speed control, brake shift Interlock), GEM module and RABS module" fuse was blow. (it's a 5 amp fuse) every time i put a new fuse into the slot it blows out. Also i dont have wipers, dome and door open warning.

can any one tell me what the problem is and the best way to fix it?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

One of the things that circuit is feeding is probably shorted, causing the fuse to blow everytime you replace it.

With a truck that's as old as yours, I'd suspect a wire in that circut has a cut in the insulation that allows contact with the frame someplace. Perhaps you could "trace" the wiring downstream from the fuse box and find the bad point - it's likely a place where the wire is "crimped" or is rubbing on some part of the vehicle.

An ohmmeter might help. With no power on the vehicle, look for a wire that shows near zero resistance if you connect the second ohmmeter lead to a good ground on the vehicle frame.

This might be a pretty hard fault to find. Good luck!

What is unit that looks like a solenoid in front of master cylinder reservoir? When I unplugged I was able to plug in a fuse and now it is working again.

Secondary safety switch for the cruise control. There is a recall on them, if you have not had your changed yet. This is recall by Ford, covering your MY ( my 2001 was covered under it ).

Your cruise control won't work. The recall is free, take it to any Ford dealer, and they will run the VIN, and see it was not done yet, and order up the parts. They disconnect it until the parts show up anyway, so you have that part done.

Damn fine lookin' truck there! Nice detail job...

Seriously, listen to what they say---disabled will get you to the dealer---let them fix it; no more worries.
