I like them, but I have not found any "Ultras" for the f150s. My truck takes H13 bulbs, and I can only find the "regular" Silverstars in that size.

The Ultras are supposed to have longer life in addition to the whiter, brighter light.

I've installed the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in one of our other cars. We went from standard halogens to the Ultras and the difference was noticeable. Pavement goes from black to gray and paint lines suddenly get much brighter. But if you've got plans to convert to HID I wouldn't spend $50 on Silverstar Ultras, especially if you've already gone through the expense of installing the original Silverstars. HID can't be beat by a set of Ultras.

when HID becomes a legal mod most people will do it, but til then silverstars are the brightest legal bulbs you can buy. at least to my knowledge.

As far as I've seen, the Ultras are not any brighter than the normal SS. They are just supposed to last (up to 30%) longer.

Thought the Ultra bulbs were the same thing as the Osram SilverStar bulbs from the EU.

If they are, they are brighter, at a lower AMP draw.

I put a SS H4 bulb in my Motorcycle, and took an AMP reading.
Compared it to my other M-cycle with a SS H4 bulb, to make sure they were the same ( noting reflector changes ).
The bike with the older style reflector I changed to the Osram EU SS bulb. Checked the AMP draw, it was 0.2 A less draw, and had a brighter light output.

I did not get a regular set of H1 SS bulbs for the Hella grille, I went right to the Ultra bulbs, so no compare there.

If you have functioning SS bulbs, I would not wast the money with the upgrade, but when you need bulbs go for the SS Ultra bulbs. As for HID, that is a personal thing. The last decient retro kit I saw for HID was when Sylvania still have the kits for the F-150.

The Osram branded bulbs last longer than the Sylvania branded ones and they don't have the blue tint over them. I was going to buy some SS Ultras, but seeing as most of them only last a few months, I think I will be buying an HID kit instead.

Looks like these might be the closest thing to the "ultras" http://www.suvlights.com/product_inf...roducts_id=110
